I desperately need help with my left Queida de Rins! It's mainly core strength that needs improvement, but I'm also not doing it quite right. Contra-Mestre has tried to help me with it a number of times, but his English is quite broken, so there's a bit of a communication gap. Any help with Queida de Rins would be greatly appreciated. (Note: My right side with this move is okay).

Capoeiristas, try this-
Step 1: Esquiva Lateral to one side.
Step 2: Slide extended leg back, followed by other leg, getting yourself into Cocorinha.
Step 3: Negativa into Role/Martelo de Chao to the other side.

This is a very handy combination of movements! Try it countering Queixadas or any other combination of movements where the directions are switching. Be sure to do it quickly. If it's done too slow, you leave yourself open on the ground. Don't leave any chance for them to get at you.

Try this-
1.) Armada. Stop the Armada beside you, rather than behind you.
2.) Do a flanked Cocorinha to the same direction as the Armada.
3.) Put your hand (of the side that you were not traveling) down almost behind you, and leap up carefully, and perform an Au Malandro/Au Batido into the other direction.

Well, I'm not authorized to teach any movements to beginners. Your best bet would be just to find a class if you can, and learn from them. Don't try books or websites. Drawings and word descriptions just don't cut it. Actual visual interpretation of the movement being done by another person right in front of you is much better. So it'd be better to find a qualified teacher, and learn directly from them.

Capoeiristas, try this flashy and fun movement.

Throw Martelo, but throw it all the way around, with lots of momentum, then before the Martelo lands on the floor, leap into a jumping Armada in the same direction. I tried this last night at class, by my self and in the Roda, and everyone loved it! Give it a shot!

I came up with a movement, a couple weeks ago, that, as far as I know, is totally new. If you are familiar with "Au Amazonas", try this: Do an S-Dobrado (sometimes called "Chapeu de Couro"), but when you start to sail over with the kick, add an extra little twist into it (the hard part) and land it as if you were landing an Au Amazonas.

It's a little hard on the Latissimus Dorsi muscles (I think that's what they're called), so make sure you stretch out your sides really well before just going ahead and attempting to do it.

Give it a shot!

Not bad, though at least from the angle the camera was viewing, it looked to me like you were overstepping on your ginga. At least in my case, my mestre really stressed that it is more like bringing your leg back than it is to the side.
