Doesn't seem like a real reason to learn Vietnamese. I'm sure your friends feel the same when you speak your other langauge if you do speak another langauge to other speakers.
I know only nine words in Vietnamese, I've had the chance to learn Vietnamese when I was seven but I didn't take it. My parents are trying to teach it to me or wait till Chue has a opening in the future. Sad that I don't know Vietnamese since I am part Vietnamese and my some of my relietives are in Vietnam.

There are a lot of Vietnamese people who understand Chinese. I know this because a lot of Vietnamese who are trying to make a living in Chinatown can understand and speak Chinese. Cool, eh?

Loads of vietnamese living in my area. Personally I think it sounds really really... something... not wierd. Makes me kinda uncomfortable when I hear it, but not excatly physically uncomfortable... hard to explain...

My parents can speak vietnamese and when they talk to their friends and suddenly start laughing, I know they're making fun of me! gonk
Well, I don't see much point in learning it, cantonese is good enough for me.
