This is for all Religious Tolerance Guild members in Utah, and specifically in or around Salt Lake City.
On March 31st there will be an Interfaith Peace March through downtown Salt Lake City.
The event will begin at the Mormon Salt Lake Temple, and participants will walk to the Catholic Church, Baptist Church, Hindu Temple and Cultural Center, Islamic Mosque, and possibly a Synagog. At each stop, a short prayer service will be held in that location's religion. If you want to learn about other faiths, this is a perfect way to do so!
This is one of the crowning events during the 2007 Season for Nonviolence, an educational campaign hosted each year by the Salt Lake Center for Spiritual Living. The Season for Nonviolence is all about promoting peace, tolerance and understanding between people of different faiths. The messages of Mahatma Gandhi and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. were the major inspirations for this campaign.
Here is the official information we have so far:
Quote:
March 31: "Connections Path" Inspired by The Abraham Path Initiative - A downtown walk between all possible houses of worship with a celebration including food, music, and entertainment at the last venue. Salt Lake and St. George.
More details will be posted here as they are made known.
Living with the event coordinator, I will be there as the official photographer. I'll post a picture of myself later. If you show up, come and find me! I'd love to personally meet my guild members.
All are welcome. The more people participate, the bigger the statement we'll make! If you live in Salt Lake and decide to participate, let me know! I will keep track and keep you up to date.
