Hokay, so my friend told me about this book... And it's like... The biggest slap-in-the-face kind of book in history... She can't remember what it's called, which makes me sad, 'cause I really, REALLY want to read it - and of course, I wouldn't know what it's called - my friend is two years older than me and her grade has different book assignments and s**t. But anyway, this is the plot summary. As soon as she finds out what it's called - the reason she hasn't yet, her teacher's on maternity leave and the sub is like not smart - I am gonna find this book, goshdarnit, 'cause this is DAMN weird!!! This is it; I'll separate it into phases:

Okay, so phase one, there's this child. And this child, well, it's a hermaphrodite (too lazy to look up spelling, guyz). But the child is raised as a female, and she is raised in an orphanage - never knew her parents, yada yada, lived her whole life there in that orphanage, until she's an adult.
So phase two. She's an adult. Yada yada, time marches on. She meets this guy - he's a drifter. She falls in love with him, even though he's pretty much a nomad and doesn't stay with her. And even though they can't stay together... They have sex...
Which leads to phase three. She's pregnant. (Now, this is where the logic part of my brain lights up. Apparently, hermaphrodites don't possess the female uterus, but you know. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, huh? Don't know how that correlates to this, but. You know. Anyway, on with the story.) Yap yap yap, I'm pregnant and don't have a husband or man to take care of the baby 'cause he was a drifter, I'm so sad. But she decides she'll keep it anyway. So she goes to the doctor, and what the doctor tells her...
Brings us to phase four. DO NOT ASK ME HOW THIS WORKS, but because of some sort of crazy complications, the doctor tells her that because she's a hermaphrodite and because of the complications, to deliver the baby successfully, she will need to get a sex change operation to make things easier.
Phase five. Baby time. S/he has his baby, and he's a happy father. Yippee, all things are right in the world. Yada yada, happy happy. But then...
Phase six. The kidnappers. His baby is kidnapped, and he becomes a mess. He is so upset, he's at this bar.
Which is phase seven. He meets the bartender, who he tells all his problems to. The bartender reluctantly tells him that he can help him, but first the father has to join this secret organization. So the father agrees, and this organization... This is where it gets ********... It is some kind of time travel thing. They can travel through time, but they very rarely do it. So what the decide to do is go back in time and stop the baby from even being born or stop the kidnappers, one of those or other. I think it's stop the baby from coming into existance.
So phase eight. They go back in time to prevent him, previously her, from meeting the drifter, falling in love, and getting preggars. While there, though, the guy meets this girl, and he falls in love with her. After he bangs the girl who he has fallen in love with, he realizes that he has just had sex with himself from all that time ago.
PHASE NINE. The organization decides that they can't let this baby happen like that. 'Cause you know. Something in the universe is going to be unbalanced and totally ********, because this guy just had sex with the female version of himself and they're going to have a kid. FREAKY.
Phase ten. They go nine months into the future. Recently-female-now-male-version-of-the-hermaphrodite has just has his/her kid. So the organization kidnaps the kid... Takes it... I think into the past or something... And drops it off at an orphanage.
Where it grows up... As a girl...
Falls in love with a drifter...
Gets a sex change operation...
Has the drifter's child...
Which is kidnapped...
When he finds out about an organization...
DO YOU SEE A PATTERN!?
He gave birth to himself, had sex with himself, and kidnapped himself!!!

TRANSLATION:
S/he is his/her own lover, mother, father, child, and kidnapper.


That was the highlight of my day when my friend told me about it. Can't wait to read it. =DDD

EXACTLY!!! Kind of. It doesn't make sense, because if he's his own parents, how did he come into existance in the first place?! Which makes you think even more, and then later makes you want to bash your face into the wall! I really want to read that book.
