For some reason, alinment wise Chaos is almost always so must more popualer then Law just why is that? because of the alure of being able to do whatever you want without direct consiquence? I wonder if the Drow would still be as popualer as they are if they were instead incredably Lawful <.<
in D&D I try to play a Lawful charicter most of the time, but every time my party members look at me like I'm crazy because...

I always play neutral, so... I can't answer the poll gonk
As for the fictional characters, I suppose they tend to be Chaotic because some Lawful characters seem to blindly obey authority... that's just my observation though, so don't hold me to that.

I play with the mentality of True Neutral, but in fallowing the philosophy of being true neutral, I feel obligated to play as Lawful so as to help balence the unbelevably chaotic actions of my teammates gonk

that's a good point that I don't think anyone ever pointed out before >.>
I play as an elf but I lean towards Law... elves (as a whole) by nature moreso lean towards Chaos then agen, the people I play with favor Dwarves yet always play Chaotic, so I guess it evens out... sweatdrop

Lawful characters are easier to play for me, i don't like chaotic characters. Lawful ones can easily be more annoying than chaotic ones... But there is in fact, i think, no real answer to the poll's question...

The reason that fictional characters tend to be chaotic, I think, is so that the demographic who reads them has something to identify with.
As is the case with Drizzt, and several other characters, the central plot of the story is of the hero discovering something horrbile in the workings of their society, and doing something to rebel against it.
The major demographic of those who read these novels are older teens, who are generally believed to display rebellious attitudes toward the influences which surround them (parents, school, government).
So a chaotic character is one that reflects the reader's own attitudes... especially with characters like Drizzt, who rebel with the intent of achieving a greater good.

I tend to play chaotic characters more, as that's more akin to my personality. Lawful tends to be avoided a lot, and I think that's cause too many people play Lawful Stupid, rather than Lawful Good/Neutral/Evil.
I don't know if it matters much in book form though, cause Artemis Entreri has a lot of fans, and he's listed as Lawful Evil, and follows his own strict set of guidelines, which is what being lawful is.

Magical Girl Yossy As is the case with Drizzt, and several other characters, the central plot of the story is of the hero discovering something horrbile in the workings of their society, and doing something to rebel against it. That only does not qulaify them for chaotic alignment.

acually it probually would Lawfully, one in that situation would probually go to the people above him in dealing with said situation, not rushing to take matters into his own hands (unless their's procedures for dealing with that sort of problem) Neutraly, one would likely look the other way unless he suspected thatit will derectly impact himself Chaos would be the one to be prone to taking assurtive action even if it means going ageince ones that were untill resently on the same side as you

The Drow don't appear so chaotic to me... they seem perhaps Lawful Evil... they do have their own sets of rules and such, even if they don't like to uphold them.

the Drow are (admittently) the racial embodiment of Chaos sweatdrop if you still don't think so, look no further then their Goddess neutral
