I was almost surprised to know that this wasn't a series that was under scrutiny by the guild. So, I shall begin a discussion (of sorts)!

This particular thread shall be for the express purpose of discussing the book series Sword of Truth by the author Terry Goodkind. A great series in my opinion (though definately not for younger readers).

[Two different threads have been made on the same topic. Here is the newer one. Post edited by Fairgrass]

Well, since no one seems to want to start a discussion, I will:

Pretty much, this is a fantasy series, 10 books out so far with the 11th and final coming out withing the next year or two.

The story starts out with Wizard's First Rule with Richard Cypher as the main character. I'm reasonably sure that little blurb is spoiler-free.

I'm hoping this discussion gets set in motion, because it's a really great series.

I read Wizards First Rule and loved it...tried to read the next one and just could not get into it.

I agree that there were some parts of the Stone of Tears that I couldn't get into, but you pretty much have to push through those and keep on and you'll get to a point where you can't put it down even when it starts to tone down.

I read the series up to the first 100 pages of The Pillars of Creation, but than I got bored with it for about a year and forgot everything so I'm starting from Wizard's First Rule again. I'm dreading the thought of reading Soul of the Fire again sweatdrop I did not like that one but I managed to get through it. My personal favorite in the series was Faith of the Fallen, probably because I liked Nicci so much xp

Sword of Truth is a great book series that was introduced to me maybe a year ago. I'm about halfway through Soul of the Fire currently but I find it difficult to get into. It's normally the last 200 hundred pages of the book that are the most interesting, till then you just have to keep reading.

It took me 3 tries to get through Stone of Tears, and then I quickly read up until the latest installment, from like 6 years ago, so I really need to reread them and read the rest now. Wow, its been so long.

I loved Wizards First Rule, I was given a shirt from a ex who loved the series but the shirt was too small for him--his lost my gain smile . Anyway it's black and on the front it says terrygoodkin.com and on the back it has the sword and says, "wizards first rule...people are stupid."

I'm currently 3/4 into Stone of Tears...only...300 pages to go..(only..geez) and I do find it really hard to get though so much I don't even know if i'll be able to continue on...i'll do my best.

One of my favorite Series! (though I haven't read that far into it... in fact, I haven't even read many other series to compare too.. xd )

I'm about half way through Soul of the Fire.. Not liking it as much as the other books, but I'm getting through it. I'm sure the next one will be better... (I'm hoping at least)

I loved Wizards First Rule. I only happened upon it because my sister in law (brothers girlfriend at the time though) said I should read it and let me borrow her book. I own the first 8 now, and about to buy the next 2 just so I have them all. I'll buy confessor when it's out in paperback. lol.

A good series though, for the older of us members. I wouldn't recommend it for younger members..

And I do agree. Stone of Tears did have some boring parts that were hard to get through. Once you get through that book though, the rest should be okay (That I've read so far)

This is another series and author who I highly respect. A beautifully crafted world with a rich and colourful history which slowly develops throughout the series progression. It took me a meer 2 months after picking up Wizards First Rule to steam all the way through the series and it's latest one Phantom and I'm eagerly awaiting the last in the series with bated breath.

Wow, only 2 months to read them all? I must be a slow reader. xd

Haha, no, it's just that I'm a quick reader, especially when reading books I really like. A few of the books I sat down and read in one sitting, usually taking about 8 hours and right through the night. Some books take me longer but this series captivated my imagination from page one.
