So on the TV I guess there was an ad or something, telling people that eating nattou makes them lose weight, and now THERE IS NO MORE NATTOU.
Every shop I have been to says they can't re-stock it because the manufacturers can't meet the demand for their products.
I don't really care, because I hate it, I just thought this might amuse people.
This is a good example of how gullible people can be here, I think advertising runs this country.
Of course eating nattou does not make you lose weight, nattou is healthy, eating healthily helps to lose weight. That should be common sense, but I guess not.

never heard of this so called weight loser. ha ha its probably the same as those slim eze products that don't work.

natto is fermented soybeans...
Sounds healther than the Atkins Diet... Where the creater himself died of heart failer.
Advertising in Japan is the same as anywhere else... but maybe with more squeaky hight pitched voices xd

Sounds much like America.
Cutiting carbs out of your eating makes you loose weight! And burns you liver!
Yeah, the thing with the atkins diet is if you do not have a lot of carbs your body starts to burn the second resort, lipids. Burns off fat, but not good for you.

i never see many diet commercials on television when i went to the us to go to disney i saw more though

I saw"diet bathwater" in japan. It was something you added to your bath to help you lose weight...yeah....
I lived with a family...and it seems like young Japaneses girls (like jr. high to college age) will buy just about anything to help them lose weight or make them appear thinner.
They certainly do care much more about image in Japan. I come from the west coast of the United States and we dress pretty casually. Especially on a college campus. I felt so out of place in jeans and a sweatshirt compared to everyone in expensive boots and designer bags...short skirts in nearly freezing weather.
...back to natto. Yuck lol.

sometimes peple in Japan baffle me. most of them that try to loose weight really don't need to. The first time I was in Japan my host mom was always talking about needing to loose weight, and she's thinner than I am (I don't need to be losing weight lol).
guess I'm one of the weird ones. I actually like natto lol

I've always wondered what nattou tastes like. Nobody ever describes it to me, they always just tell me IT STINKS!! That's ALL you need to know!!!
Personally I love umeboshi, pickled Japanese plums. It weirds my boyfriend out... hehe. I just love how it's salty, sweet, and sour all at the same time. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Quite simply, nattou tastes like snot. It is not particularly vile in any way other then texture. The smell is a little overwhelming, but I've smelled worse. The texture gets me every time though. It's like little soybeans covered in a sticky mucus membrane. Disgusting.

Eeeeep! crying I'm sick at the moment so I AM tasting snot... stupid sinsus infection.... I hate it when I get post-nasal drip... I guess nattou wouldn't be something I'd enjoy.
