So who here likes/dislikes their guard captian or co-captains? I definatly hated mine this year even though the last 3 years haven't been so bad. She didn't have a single clue of what to do and she wanted peoples respect and yelled at everyone but never dished out punishment when it was severly needed. Whats everyone scoop on captians? Go ahead and rant. 3nodding

Everyone In The Guard Hates Her . She Makes Rules Then Breaks Them. This Year We Had 20 Twirlers and we are down to 4 (-2 for nationals) because they all hates her!

yea we started out with 60 girls on the guard (flag line and weapons) and by the start of football season (which for us is like 2 or 3 months from the beginning of the season) 13 girls had dropped. which is a record for us. All because of our freaking captain.

When I was in it I can say I didn't like most of them. They weren't good at all in telling us how to fix our mistakes. But they were good yellers. I'll give them that. And constant "drama".

I dont know why our band director picked our section leader. She cant do half the flag work, she breaks her own rules, and she she has a major seniority complex, she hates people who tell her shes breaking her rules and tries to get them kicked off guard. hmm...i guess sucking up to the band directory really works.. rolleyes

We had two captains. One was a stuck up senior who sucked up to the instructors, abused her powers (WE had to set up HER flags mad ), and she would sit out and do nothing. She didn't even count in time she was always 4 beats ahead of us, it was ridiculous. Our other one was a freshman who was nice but strict when she had to be. She only started to abuse her power when indoor started up. But i never joined it so, I can't open my mouth about it.
Blah.

well my guard cap. was such a b***h no one liked her because she only wanted to be the captain so she could put it on her college essay, she didnt care how the guard did at shows, and most of the time didnt show up for practice. im sure that the only reason she got cap. was because the band director liked her "she was such a slut" well n e way she ended up quitting the guard half way through marching season and i was named captain <3 I love my guard and always do little things for them like bring treats to practice..

I have a hard time "hating" our indoor guard captain, 'cause she doesn't know she's bad at it. She is, like, physically unable to keep in time with the music; how can you hate someone for that? And, we didn't have tryouts for captain, she automatically got it because she's the only senior this year.

Well, my captain is really short and has a habit of all-blue outfits. SMURF is her nickname. But we know that if we get to rowdy, it's punishment time. And if we suck on purpose OH BOY because she is SERIOUS about guard.
So she's really a good captain.

Im sort of half liking my cap. right now, because she is good at the work and knows how to count and teach and coreograh, but she doesnt have her whole heart into it anymore. She ditches practice to go screw her boyfriend on their one month anniversary, and almost ditched again because she didnt feel like going, the only reason she didnt was becasue me and my friend saw her and was telling her about how the guard was torn in half. She was resigned to go, she couldnt have ditched after we informed her of that.

All the captains are my friends. I say all because we have four which is really weird seeing as right now there are 10 people in the guard. And most of the guard considers me an unofficial captian, so half of us are captain. O.o The only problem I have is that the two main captains (two are...captians the other two...are but aren't...I dunno), can get really...well they tend not to listen to anyone, even each other, and sometimes one of em will get so mad that she'll punch a sign. They went the whole marching season last year, knowing that we hated how they were running things and they never even talked to us to see how they could fix it. And this year isn't much better, but it's not so much their fault as all the newcomers that never show up for practice.

I loved my captains! heart They could both teach, keep people in line, have fun, and everything. They were AMAZING....they wrote routine/drill, taught it, cleaned it, and took care of all equipment and uniforms. One of em even organized music for the rest of the band. Plus I was pretty close friends with both of them heart
