Well. I personally would say neither. I've only listened to a few X-Japan songs, if any and Diru isn't really my band. Though, I was going to go to their concert in February in Chicago. I'm not anymore though.
I also liked hide from X as a soloist. If I had to choose, X-Japan.

I've talked to Hide-san. 3nodding It was fun. My cousin branded him. And I got b***h-slapped by another spirit. (supposedly) Why that happened? I don't know. sweatdrop

Mmkay, I've been dying to put my two cents in ever since I came across this guild XD
Okay, I absolutely love both Dir en grey and X-Japan. They're both really creative and original bands. I've noticed X has more catchier beats [From what I heard] while Dir en grey is slowly getting a harsher, more Western feel in their music. Both perfectly okay with me. Both bands have some downfalls too. Though I love X, Toshi's voice can get on my nerves sometimes. And while I love Diru to death, too much of them in one day can make my head asplode. Both bands can be comical to watch, whether in music videos, or just regular old clips you find on YouTube, whether intentional or not.
But, if I really had to choose, as in a life or death situation, I'd cling onto Dir en grey for dear life.

To each their own, yes? Been awhile since I've been in here. Well, I see I've had a few die-hard fans towards Dir en Grey, and vice-versa to X-Japan. And, we've had a few people go towards a "Meh". Keep it up! biggrin

I'd have to say X-Japan. I mean, I'm a total Diru fangirl and I love them to little bloody bite-sized bits, but X-Japan is like, legendary. And I definitely have a soft spot for hide-sama heart

Oh man. >.< this is so hard. But Diru was the band that got me into jrock... And I crave listening to them more often than X.. So I guess I'd go with Diru. But damn, it makes me feel guilty for choosing one over the other.
(for this thread being about diru and X there sure are a lot of GazettE siggies. XDD <3!)
