Okay. So, as you are probably aware, we Gaians and the Zurg Hive have been trying to form some kind of peace treaty for a while.
Well, it's been finished, agreed upon, and is being signed.

After opening up the floor for objections, I have added my signature on behalf of our organization.

Here it is, in it's entirety:

designergrl
Peace Treaty

We, the undersigned, recognizing the need to build a lasting peace between our species, do hereby agree to observe the terms and conditions of this treaty. We understand that by meeting the objectives herein stated, we will create a foundation for a mutually beneficial relationship.

This treaty, therefore, is only the foundation… we will continue to build upon it as we grow in friendship with one another; for the good of both Gaia and Zurg.

Henceforth, we stand united as one. Let there be no barriers between us. For all of us together, and for each of us individually, we sign this document and declare peace!

Objective 1: Eliminate the Roots of Distrust Between Species

A – The Hive has accepted an impartial observer, to assure Gaians that there are no secret plans that would cause harm to Gaia or its inhabitants.

B – The various Gaia factions will begin removing their spies from the Hive.

C – The Hive will begin remove its spies from the Gaia factions.

D – The Hive has created a new, public guild, where free exchange of information can take place. This will encourage open communications and foster an environment of trust and cooperation.

Objective 2: Cessation of Hostilities

A – Both sides will publicly declare their desire for peace, and remove hostile remarks from their threads, guild home pages, etc.

B – There will be an immediate cessation of hostile acts. The term "hostile acts" includes, but is not limited to, verbal and physical attacks, abductions, theft and/or destruction of property.

C – If a member of any group, Zurg or Gaian, refuses to support the peace effort, that member must be dealt with immediately. If it is not possible to convince the member to change, stricter measures may be enforced, such as disciplinary action and/or banishment.

D – Hostile acts committed by renegade individuals will not be blamed on the species as a whole. Renegade actions are understood to be the actions of individuals only, and are not representative of the whole population.

Objective 3: Commencement of Peacetime Relations

A – The cessation of hostilities is understood as only the first step in bringing about a lasting peace. Therefore, both sides will make every effort to encourage fraternization between our species.

B – The new, public guild will be the center of these friendly activities. Individuals are encouraged to support additional friendship-building activities wherever and whenever possible. We will socialize with one another as often as possible.

C – We will treat one another with respect, kindness, and forbearance. We recognize that we all make mistakes. As such, we will strive to be slow to anger and quick to forgive.

Now, remember. We are bound by this treaty as well. That means I want all of our spies/double agents/informants etc. out of the hive. They kept their part of the bargain already by letting in Designergrl to keep watch over their activities, so it's time to do ours.

Let us hope that this leads to a better future for all residents of Gaia, whether human, zombie, or Zurg.

That sounds good, but you should also make sure that during these freindly activites, such as trades of information and technology, that there is both impartial observers and two memebers from each group. It would be hard for people to pull something if they knew exatcly what happened. In other terms, best we cover our rears the best we can while making sure they can do the same, and thus have equal footing. It is another step in assuring no mistrust or scandals have taken place.

Well, this new guild is open up for anyone. So hopefully, there will be plenty of observers.

Yes, sir. I sent my join request about twenty minutes ago, sir, along with some random chatter to the one who invited me. Lintra's always a lot of fun... though the probing worries me a little bit at times. sweatdrop

I hope to be of some help to both the GIB and this new treaty plan, sir. biggrin

Of course. All opinions are welcome.

What sort of trap do you think they could be planning?

Peac embessy talks gone bad. They'll have a lot more of their people out and about if this goes wrong. it wouldn't be to hard for them to manipulate or feign a death of one of their own and blame it on us. Or say we threatened violence. I like the thought of peace, but I don't like the thought of a trap.

Hmm...
The thing is, they could do any of that without going through the trouble of creating a treaty.

So I figure that the treaty at least can't hurt the situation.

I support this treaty, but I notice that it does not say anything about what will happen if someone signs the treaty and then breaks it. Just pointing that out.

That's another good point, we all know the word of Gaian, or Zurg, can be twisted turned, corupted, or whatever. As for your previous question TIM, sir. Just think how bad it would look if we broke a treaty with the Zurg. PR would fall faster then a dutie fly without wings and hatred of us would rise to the point even some of the GIB agents might become targets.

I'm for A treaty with the zurge, but THAT treaty, must be able to be flexible, reliable, and as close to safe as we can make it.

Well, I'm not sure how to explain it...
But, this:
Quote:

A – The Hive has accepted an impartial observer, to assure Gaians that there are no secret plans that would cause harm to Gaia or its inhabitants.

B – The various Gaia factions will begin removing their spies from the Hive.

C – The Hive will begin remove its spies from the Gaia factions.

D – The Hive has created a new, public guild
, where free exchange of information can take place. This will encourage open communications and foster an environment of trust and cooperation.

Seems a bit to fishy.. =|

Zurg HIVE wants no spies --> Mother tells 06 plan to rule gaia --> 06 tells plan to HIVE --> HIVE does it --> Surprise attack

HIVE was built to do 06 bidding(lol) and all UFO are loyal to Mother, so if 06 tells Mother to do something then it's most likely she'll tell her army

And if the HIVE want to conduct peace, then why don't they make there orginal guild public? neutral

Doesn't sound like a trap, but thats who I could word it out >.<;;;;
It sounded much better in my mind lol

But, I still support peace because if we work together we could destory Darknrgy and Mother would like that ^^

What I meant to point out was that even if a person breaks the treaty, they are still protected by it because everyone else is still bound by the treaty. In most treaties, there is a provision to take that scenario into account.
