To say the least, diplomatic relations are... damaged, at the moment. But not broken.
Thus, we must fix them before they become so.
To be honest, I feel that the greatest threat to peace are the admin themselves. eek We need to let THEM know that we want a peaceful solution to this dilemma. Thus, if you have not already, please visit the peace petition and add your signature.
And remember to carry a sunflower to show your support for a peaceful solution.
I also encourage you to reach out to your friends and acquaintances outside of the GIB and appeal to them to sign the petition as well.
Additionally, there is the matter of the more warlike factions on Gaia. Official ambassadors are already being assigned, but you can still help. Rather than try to change their faction as a whole, I would advise you to speak to some of their members one-on-one. Explain that peace is best for Gaia, for more reasons than one. In addition to the obvious idealistic reasons, there is DARKNRGY to consider. It is what gives Flarn, as well as a new weapon the UFOs have created, their power. Put simply, DARKNRGY is negative emotions. That means the more combative we are, the stronger it will become. And that's not good for anyone.
Lastly, if there is one source that can be pinned as the cause of most conflict in the world, it is misunderstanding. Once you know the people you are fighting, and see them as individuals, and even friends, you quickly lose your will to fight. Therefore, I applaud the Zurg Nation for putting together this guild:
Gaia Unlimited
Gaia Unlimited is a place for the members of ALL factions to get together and form new friendships, regardless of what species we may belong to.
I know some of you may regard this with suspicion, but I ask you to join the guild and give it a chance. No conflict is allowed there, it is to be only peaceful interaction between all people, whether Zurg or Gaian.
In the end, this sort of interaction may be our best chance at creating peace.

PEACE TREATY
Okay. So, as you are probably aware, we Gaians and the Zurg Hive have been trying to form some kind of peace treaty for a while.
Well, it's been finished, agreed upon, and is being signed.
After opening up the floor for objections, I have added my signature on behalf of our organization.
Here it is, in it's entirety:

Peace Treaty
We, the undersigned, recognizing the need to build a lasting peace between our species, do hereby agree to observe the terms and conditions of this treaty. We understand that by meeting the objectives herein stated, we will create a foundation for a mutually beneficial relationship.
This treaty, therefore, is only the foundation… we will continue to build upon it as we grow in friendship with one another; for the good of both Gaia and Zurg.
Henceforth, we stand united as one. Let there be no barriers between us. For all of us together, and for each of us individually, we sign this document and declare peace!
Objective 1: Eliminate the Roots of Distrust Between Species
A – The Hive has accepted an impartial observer, to assure Gaians that there are no secret plans that would cause harm to Gaia or its inhabitants.
B – The various Gaia factions will begin removing their spies from the Hive.
C – The Hive will begin remove its spies from the Gaia factions.
D – The Hive has created a new, public guild, where free exchange of information can take place. This will encourage open communications and foster an environment of trust and cooperation.
Objective 2: Cessation of Hostilities
A – Both sides will publicly declare their desire for peace, and remove hostile remarks from their threads, guild home pages, etc.
B – There will be an immediate cessation of hostile acts. The term "hostile acts" includes, but is not limited to, verbal and physical attacks, abductions, theft and/or destruction of property.
C – If a member of any group, Zurg or Gaian, refuses to support the peace effort, that member must be dealt with immediately. If it is not possible to convince the member to change, stricter measures may be enforced, such as disciplinary action and/or banishment.
D – Hostile acts committed by renegade individuals will not be blamed on the species as a whole. Renegade actions are understood to be the actions of individuals only, and are not representative of the whole population.
Objective 3: Commencement of Peacetime Relations
A – The cessation of hostilities is understood as only the first step in bringing about a lasting peace. Therefore, both sides will make every effort to encourage fraternization between our species.
B – The new, public guild will be the center of these friendly activities. Individuals are encouraged to support additional friendship-building activities wherever and whenever possible. We will socialize with one another as often as possible.
C – We will treat one another with respect, kindness, and forbearance. We recognize that we all make mistakes. As such, we will strive to be slow to anger and quick to forgive.

Now, remember. We are bound by this treaty as well. That means I want all of our spies/double agents/informants etc. out of the hive. They kept their part of the bargain already by letting in Designergrl to keep watch over their activities, so it's time to do ours.
Let us hope that this leads to a better future for all residents of Gaia, whether human, zombie, or Zurg.
