He's gay, he doesn't like women.
  He's a misogynist!!

Okay, am I missing something? What is up with Goemon and women?
There seems to be only two ways that Goemon can react to women in Lupin episodes, movies, and specials. One is to get really embarrassed, blush, and look away like he is 13 years old. The other is to ignore them or act like they aren't of any consequence to him. In the first series (green jacket) in the episode where Goemon is introduced, he refers to Fujiko as his "girlfriend" (of course Fujiko is just undercover, but whatever). This is the only instance I can think of where Goemon was actually interested in women.

I'm sure this is some kind of samurai stoicism or whatever, but I just wanted to hear other reactions.

It is sorta an odd reaction, isn't it?
I think it's always stupid when he acts all shy and akward. I'm sure that even if he has have no interest in women, there are other reactions. It's not like he's never seen one before...

As for the entire Fujiko/Girlfriend and what happaned after that, it all ties into character development. And the manga, I think.
In the manga, at first all the characters were just as interested in Fujiko/women as Lupin was. This included Goemon. But as the series went on, it probably got old trying to figure out who would get the girl by the end of the story. Also, it would be opretty silly for all your main characters to have the same weakness (women).

Beyond that, it was probably a matter of character development. Jigen and Goemon can see that (99.9% of the time) Fujiko just uses Lupin. While Lupin cannot (will not?) see it.

Culterally, though, Goemon is a samurai, and samurai were Buddists. Buddists beleive in meditaion to separate themselves completley from the world. Women, I would assume, would probably have the side effect of distracting you from this noble quest of alienation.
He also seems to be devoted to his sword. Sorta a "one thing or the other, but not both." kind of deal, it seems.

However, he's very cool for it. cool

xd The title made me laugh.

I always take it as him being shy. That's about as much thought that I put into it. 3nodding

Yeah I wasn't thinking about the manga, just the animation. I remember a long time ago when I got my first Lupin manga (it was in Japanese, so I couldn't read it) and Jigen was getting laid with Fujiko, I had a total WTF moment because Jigen is always giving Lupin a hard time about Fujiko in the series.

I thought about that -- I didn't know how strong the ties were between Buddhism and samurai, or if they were still strong in the modern era.

Agreed so very much.

And I don't much like it when they make him blush and stuff, kind of annoying.
