Okay so I'm afraid that if I post this in the subforum, it'll get ignored. If any of the mods overly object go ahead and move it, i don't care. I was just curious as to the opinions of yous guys on the subject of the vast majority of sequels/prequels that are in the works such as... Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard Ocean's Thirteen Hannibal Rising Beverly Hills Cop 4 War Games 2 Indiana Jones 4 Star Trek 9 And so on and so forth... just curious...

Sequels do usually, but some of the most awesomey sequels kick a**! Terminator 2, Die Hard 2 and 3, Transporter 2, X2: X-Men United, Spiderman 2, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Last Crusade and alot more... I really want to see Die Hard 4 and Spiderman 3 and some of the others... any sequels you guys really want to see made? I wouldn't mind a Transporter 3.

Well, usually when a sequel doesn't suck it's because there was always meant to be more than just one movie.

nuclear banana Well, usually when a sequel doesn't suck it's because there was always meant to be more than just one movie. Well, believe it or not, Back to the Future was never meant to have a sequel (seriously). The scene at the end of the first movie was added as a joke. Also the reverse is true with Kill Bill. I loved the first one and the stylistically portrayed world of assassins... but I really gotta say the second one deeply disappointed me. Also Star Wars was riding on the fact that it was going to bomb, no producer in the world thought it would do anything... Lucas actually had a failsafe sequel just in case ESB didn't get made. Just a thought...

I loved both Kill Bills.
I am looking forward to the second Batman of the new Series...the New Fantastic Four might be alright.

Verucca I loved both Kill Bills.
I am looking forward to the second Batman of the new Series...the New Fantastic Four might be alright. I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight as well, but not so much Rise of the Silver Surfer... And Kill Bill 2 lacked everything 1 had...

Kill Bill was really one movie split to be more theater-watchable. It's kinda weird to me to think of them as separate, because if I didn't like the second, I'd dislike them both as a story... but I like them so that's moot. LotR, same thing: one long story shot as a single film split up for marketing.
And T2 was definitely an awesome sequel. Spider Man has been a good franchise too. But most sequels are just meant to cash in on the success of the previous, so I'd say they're exceptions to the formula when they turn out really well.
Oh, and don't forget James Bond, but those are a bunch of books...

Oh, and don't forget James Bond, but those are a bunch of books... Actually the original Ian Fleming bond books were only 13 books, and there are currently 21 Bond movies. So yeah...

The mentioned ones are prolly gonna suck, but not all sequels are bad. The quality level tends to rely on whether or not they expected one though.
