I just finished watching the episode...It was a good episode in my opinion Catherine Tate was annoying as hell - in character, I remember people hated her appearance at the end of the last season. I liked the Alien (I can't spell it so I am not trying) and the use of outer space scenes made the explanation look nice. the scenes on the motorway were funny and I believe in multiple scenes in this episode we saw the Children from Sarah Jane Adventures.

I also got a bit of excitement from the mention of gallifrey.
I liked that Shakespeare is going to be in the next series...I am glad they didn't leave "oh that Darlek that escaped is back." as a surprise...because it didn't work in season 2.

Ah seems i'm going to have to be a scrooge on this occasion. I'm sorry but this episode just didn't cut it for me. With the combination of dodgy christmas puns, the return of the santa robots and alien with a very nasty lisp, this turned out to be pretty rubbish in my opinion. Then theres the ending. Did anyone else get reminded of spiders in the bathtub? Down the plug-hole you go! And after the goodbyes are said, I've never seen the TARDIS take off like that before! And making it snow? Someone pass me a bucket. Maybe i'm just not in the christmas spirit but that is definitley not one of the better doctor who episodes i've seen.
And finally just to end this post nicely, GOD DAMNIT DALEKS STAY DEAD ALREADY!!! scream I can't wait for them to explain it this time "Ahaha! I was scuba diving in spain at the time of the attack and so didn't get sucked into nothingness"

I was scuba diving in spain at the time of the attack and so didn't get sucked into nothingness" What are you talking about? We all saw that Dalek perform a phase-shift-type-thingy at the end of the last season. Anyway, it just wouldn't be the same without the Daleks. Omega Rune Fox Plus one thing I read was a monster from the doctors past that wasnt expected to return...(Those rhino guys?) I'm fairly certain they've not turned up before. They do however remind me of the Sontaren's.

Smigg-the-Miserable I'm fairly certain they've not turned up before. They do however remind me of the Sontaren's. Yeah first thing I thought was that they were pretty sweet looking Sontarans. Well, sweet for an alien that seems to have a turd for a head, anyhows. The episode was...eh. Loved the villainess, and Donna was actually rather endearing with her stupidity. The ending was pants, but then that's what you get when you design a villain who CAN'T ACTUALLY MOVE ANYWHERE. The woman playing her deserves an Oscar for even agreeing to the part ;D How the tanks got out so quickly and where the hell they came from in the first place is anyone's guess. Overall it wasn't a patch on last year's offering but it had its moments. The trailer for the new season looked pretty naff but then again I'm kind of glad for that. I don't really want EVERYTHING spoliered for me six months before it even airs. *cough* season2 *cough*

They actually looked a teensy bit silly to me. But then again I think I'd be almost disapointed if they didn't have at least some daft looking monster in there somewhere.

The fact she didnt move at all sorta pissed me off... all that propethic to just stand there and scream... didnt.. seem worth the hassle. I enjoyed the episode otherwise D: it was very emotional and a great special. I'd already seen the series 3 trailer (i did post a topic with the screenshots in but you all mislooked it) Donna's stupidity made her GOOD, "Before she left did she ever punch you in the face?" Donna was a brilliant character, just thankfull she said no to travelling though. She's a such a brilliant contrast to Rose.

Cup_of_Tea Ah seems i'm going to have to be a scrooge on this occasion... Don't worry, you're not the only Scrooge smile It passed the time, but was pretty weird and I agree it wasn't as good as last year's. I don't think the Doctor's been that upset about a companion leaving since Ace (leaving aside whether that's canon or not). I presumed the TARDIS took off like that because he'd been hyping it up as a spaceship rather than a time travel device - even though he'd clearly shown both sides. The snow thing was pretty lame - I preferred last year's ashes of blown-up spaceship. Still, nice finally mentioning Gallifrey and confirming what we've suspected for a long time - dimensionally transcendental pockets smile DW

I liked the episode (liked last year's better). It was good to see the Doctor's poignant side with the flashbacks to Rose but also good to see him ready to move on (that's how I interpreted his offer for Donna to travel with him).
One thing that really annoyed me was the overuse of the sonic screwdriver. I'm tempted to rewatch the ep just see how many times the silly thing was used. Think I read somewhere that it was going to get broken or something. Not a moment too soon. I'd like to use the Doctor using more of his own ingenuity when faced with situations (like in the classic series).
Loved to hear the Gallifrey reference. Loved to hear the pockets' explanation. Trailer was interesting... did I see the cat people from "New Earth" as pilots or something? Looking forward to meeting Martha (and the potential of an intelligent and classier companion... shades of Sarah Jane, I hope). smile
