OH. MY. GOSH. It was HORRIBLE!!! I'm in Wind Ensemble, so the highest band, and we sounded worse than the concert band! The stupid trombones biffed the entire thing!! ARGGGGGG!!! We plaayed this one piece called "Copland's Signture" that had a bunch of Aaron Copland's stuff smashed together and arranged by Clare Grundman, and it had the potential to be an absolute awesome piece, but the stupid trombones can't play!! AAAAAAH!! PUSH THEM OFF A CLIFF!! No offense if you're a trombone... sweatdrop

Ugh, the dreaded X-mas concert where every single group has to preform. It wasn't that bad actually, here is what we did: Combined bands (I'm in Wind Ensemble, the higher of the two, and I was the only piccoloist of the combined bands) We did two medleys (spelling?) of christmas songs, and then a long variations of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. And then the other instrumental thing I was in was Jazz band, my one chance to shine as a flute in jazz band, that was a medley of songs also. They we had dance company (I'm not it it, I couldn't dance if my life depended on it xD), Girls Vocal Jazz (I'm in it, we did All I Want for Christmas is you, the Mariah Carey version, Sending you a little Christmas, and Santa Baby), Swing Choir (Ok, I'm not in it, but they did great, they did Breath of Heaven, Mr. Grinch, and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies

We don't have our concert until December 4th, so we gotta wait just a little bit longer.
Our songs for our Winter Concert are Twin Oaks, Hanukkah Celebration, Liturgical Fanfare, Winter Fantasy and Acclamations.
Personally, I don't like Winter Concerts, I've always loved Spring Concerts because all the songs in the Spring Concert are fun to play.

I don't like Christmas Concerts that much. Mainly becuase everyone knows the songs so we can't BS it if we get lost. I'm in the Symphonic band which is the highest we have. But anyways, this year, Symphonic Band is playing Christmas Festival, Sleigh Ride, Patapan, O Holy Night, Christmas Prelude, and A Canadian Brass Christmas. I don't remember all the songs COncert Band is playing, but I do remember A Cartoon Christmas. I'm not sure what we're gonna play for our Winter Concert. It's usually regular concert music though..

Its Emo Fabulous Our songs for our Winter Concert are Twin Oaks...
I played that a few years ago! I think I still have the music. ... And now I'm playing the recording from that concert, haha. I'm a geek. xDD I don't like Winter Concerts all that much. Spring concerts are much more fun because you get to play harder music. :] For Winter Concert, Symphonic band (middle band) is playing: An English Christmas by Clare Grundman (Great piece, but GOOD LORD. Time sig. changes: Cut to 6/8 to cut to 6/8 to 3/4 to cut. It's crazy.) Visigoths by Sean O'Loughlin (It was just commissioned this year, it's really excellent. <3) and Over the River arr. by John Moss (I hateeee this one, it's the most ridiculously boring arrangement ever..)

Our winter concert is in a week and a half, we're playing Americans We, Emperata Overture, Ballet of Prince Igor (Polotzvian Dances) , and Sleigh Ride in class, where I play flute and piccolo. We've got those down.
But the Jazz band is having a little trouble. We're playing Satin Doll, Night in Tunisa, All of Me, The Look of Love, and On 10 Dowling Street. I play trumpet in jazz band, but I'm not very good, and we have a lot of freshmen in it this year, where it's really supposed to be the best of the best, with mostly seniors and juniors and maybe a sophomore or two. So they're doing their best, but it's hard to jump into this music as a freshman or someone new to the instrument. sweatdrop
I never much liked Christmas Concerts... we never play Hanukkah music in high school! sad Our BD's bit old-fashioned and quite religiously Christian.
