It's the holiday season and a few holidays have passed, and we have more to come.
A lot of holidays have a lot to do with religion, which (sometimes unfortunately) has a lot to do with spirituality.
So, tell us, what holiday do you celibrate and what do you do on that holiday? mrgreen

Christmas:
Exchange of gifts of varying value, and spend time with those I care about. Eat a large dinner, have fun, and enjoy the company of people I feel are important to me.

The fun part about being from a Baptist household, part of a wiccan-esque coven and living with a deist boyfriend is all the fun and games of Christmas, Yule and whatever the heck I feel like it all in one fun-filled holiday season!

It bugs me how the categories are mutually exclusive. I celebrate Christmas, Giftmas (aka, secular Christmas), Hannukah, *and* Winter Solstice. 3nodding

Christmas! My family follows the Swedish tradition (or at least our Swedish grandmother's tradition - I'm pretty sure it's cultural, and not just her psychosis showing) of celebrating on Christmas Eve. Before all the kiddies were happening all over the place, we'd hang out and exchange love letters - telling each other how much we love and appreciate one another - until midnight, then open presents. Now we skip the letters (because who has time to write, and besides one of my sisters doesn't like me anymore rolleyes ) and open family gifts at around 7-9pm. Then we all go home and the kiddies wake up bright and godawful early and open Santa presents.
Then, if we're feeling confident that the family dog will be either contained or staying somewhere else, we go up to my husband's family's house, where they have their annual Christmas barbecue, Hawaiian shirt recommended (they crank the heat too). Their dog is not well-behaved at parties, and gets jealous of attention. His sister's dog is also now jealous, and staying with my in-laws. That makes (count 'em) two jealous dogs at a party, and me with a newborn and a toddler. With my husband working Christmas Day this year. Yeah, we're missing the barbecue... I'll miss the burgers, but maybe next year.

..Uhh..Christmas..sorta..
Still living with my parents, so I'll be going to Christmas mass, then coming home, going to bed, wake up early, open presents..then go to my aunt's house later that day for Christmas dinner.
I say sorta because I'm somewhat apathetic to the holiday. I don't much care for it. (This may be because it's developped a negative connotation in my mind since I'm usually sick on Christmas..if not..it's definately a factor). If I was living away from home, I probably wouldn't celebrate Christmas..and if I did in the least, I would probably have one of those inverted Christmas trees and no other decoration. Just a plain, desk sized, inverted Christmas tree.. ninja
But..Yeah..Needless to say that I don't care much for Christmas..So..I guess I'm this Guild's unnofficial Grinch, hn?

Yule/ Christmas:
Just a solemn commercial-free holiday for me. Recieving/ Giving gifts is good, but knowing that at least the world is "resting" for a bit is better.

I guess we could make the day Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense. Or Ben Franklin's birthday a holiday...

We celebrate Christs birth in August. So now its Santa, Solstice and the Birth of the Lord (of the Summerlans) We exchange gifts now and in January at the modern New Year, we even get gifts for the Swamp beings and the ghost.

Andiela KilledbyKarma xd COMMON SENSE DAY!!!!!!!!!! rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl That'd be a GREAT holiday! I so would celebrate common sense day.
"Today is common sense day, traditional holiday of deists."
"Ummm... what do you do on common sense day?"
"It can't be dictated. It can only be discovered through reason and logic."
