I have to say they're slipping. That might be because of the total lack of an antagononist that it sucked. Better than random shoes though...

Lesson: For a good episode, you need

A proper story with a:

Protagonist
Antagonist
PLOT (here's lookin at you, episode 9)

However, episode 11 does look very good. Owen character of the week, kidnapped weevils and another afterlife reference...

While the episode was kind of interesting, with the various outlooks and reactions of the various characters, it did get a bit tedious.

The last TV programme I cried at was Doomsday with the scene on Bad Wolf Bay... until now.

I have to admit I broke down and wept at this episode. Then again, I know what it is to be that depressed.

Excellent. A definite return to form after the debacle that was Random Shoes.

It made me feel really sorry for those people, especially that girl who ends up going to London.
At first though I thought it was a bit boring as there was no alien story or anything. But it turned out to be quite interesting.

I thought it was a fantastic episode. Beautifully acted, very intelligent. This is how you do drama, not Random Shoes. This story actually had heart and didn't get overly preachy and ruin the story trying to provide a moral. Second best episode so far I think. Countrycide still beats everything.

I really loved this episode. There was tons of great acting and character development. I think Jack acted perfectly in character. After all, if he was able to, he'd have done it himself. Though, he wanted the guy not to so he wouldn't be alone. It's really an alien perspective that no one else can really understand.

I don't know how they're going to show this on American TV. They say ********, show a clean sex scene (no nudity) that was hotter than anything on Skinamax (and i don't even like Owen), and show an assisted suicide.

It turned me into an emotional wreak, and I loved it.

Typical. The writers had a perfect opportunity for Owen's character to evolve into something other than a one-dimensional, narcissistic, self destructive man-whore and they blew it.

Well, that's not wholly true. I'm sure he'll be brooding a lot more for the next couple episodes. rolleyes

Meeeh. Okay, the only redeeming thing about this episode was Jack.

There is no way Torchwood could even exist if it wasn't for Jack. Because Ianto was hardly in it, and he's a good thing about Torchwood. Tosh didn't exist much in this episode. Gwen was just... well, stupid, and yeah. And Owen got his heart broken. Haha.

But the scene with Jack... and at the end with the suicide, that was beautiful. I actually teared up. I really really really loved that scene, and the scene when the guy was with his son, and he didn't remember him. Oh wow. Those were the good parts of this episode. I liked last episode better.

'Twas a very decent episode indeed.

Man, when John committed suicide, I was on the verge of tears. And I'm a guy...

Great performance from John Barrowman in said scene, by the way. Very powerful, very moving.

And also John meeting his son, now an old man, who couldn't remember anything...just...wow.

Oh yeah, and Owen got it on with some chick.

All I remember was giving up on Torchwood after the first five or so episodes.. and then I watched the finale 'cause my friend said I'd need to.

So I will probably go watch this now......yeah. >>;

Okay, I'm predicting a few hours before it airs on BBC America.

  • The assisted suicide shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  • They've been blanking out Owen's more..colorful..language so far, so I'll expect that, although it's pretty obvious what he's saying.
  • The clean sex scene will be either shortened to almost nothing or have a typical random commercial break right before. I'll be surprised if it's left all in, as I've seen it online and doubt they will.

And yes, Owen is a complete b*****d.

John Barrowman gives an amazing performance in this one, and I'll be glad to see it again. It certainly made me cry.

Well, I didn't cry this time around, but those two scenes do make me incredibly saddened..
I was right on all accounts, basically. The assisted suicide was shown, with a random commercial break as Jack leans his head back on the seat after the man dies.
Owen's infamous F-bomb was blanked out, and used no less than five times in this episode. Although admittedly one time used by the woman. >>;; Not her fault, she didn't know the term.

Random commercial break right after Owen and the woman start 'doing it', fortunately for me.

Then the equally random montage at the end with the plane flying away..I'd preferred to have seen a bit more closure with Jack. =/

I've never liked Owen and seeing him as next week's main-ish character... ugh.. he was focal enough in this one as it is. At least Tosh gets her time in that familiar looking 2-parter finale (oh yeah, and so does Jack.. *coughcough*)

Needless to say, this is the episode that makes my face turn red the most, or talking about some random thing over the episode, or commenting on exactly how much I don't like Owen. >>;;; Especially since my dad was sitting right behind me the entire time. ><;

Anyways, more afterlife in the next episodes, and I'm surprised that there's only three left.. I thought there was either four or two.. *shrug*

I just watched this one again recently and, like a lot of episodes (Countrycide, End of Days, ect.) I enjoyed it more upon rewatching.
I enjoyed it the first time, true, but it took two viewings for me to really appreciate how f**king brilliant the episode actually is.
