Has anyone seen the Seven Percent Solution? I must admit, I found the squaring-off of Holmes against Freud rather amusing, but that actor was anything but Holmesian. And (yes, I know the title...) it did centre a bit too much around drugs. Give me a good case, but... rehab? Er...
Opinions?

Well, I can't help but like both it & the book. That's where my Sherlockian interests all began! I know Nicol Williamson isn't terribly Holmes-like, but I think he did well portraying this rather fragile Holmes. And the hidden motivations for his drug addiction & all are right out of one of the Holmes bios, I believe--Vincent Starrett, or William Baring-Gould, though? I can't remember.
OH--And the whole chopping up the train sequence was right out of Buster Keaton's "The General"! xd

Oh, I know! I laughed all through the whole train scene, first time I saw it. My boyfriend was over, and of course he noticed nothing. gonk

xd The Holmes didn't look anything like a Holmes, but the Watson was excellent. Freud at tennis!!!

Is there anywhere I can find this one for less than $75? I went looking for it the other day and I was floored by how much it is running.
Even Granada is cheaper by a long shot.
Hm, if they are going for so high, it must be a good show. I guess.
I'll see if I can't snag the book somehwere, at least while the movie is out of my grasp.

Yeah, it has it's flaws...but I still love to watch this movie. The reasons I stated in '06 still stand. smile And I think it and the novel set off the explosion of Sherlock Holmes pastiches in the mid-70's, which was also mostly cool.
