If was holding an apple and I asked you what it is you would probly say apple. But another can come by and call it a crab apple or another could call it Malus. And the cycle goes on and the whole time only onething is left true that the apple is an apple no matter what name/word used to describe it.
I know myself its not easy and sometimes fustrating when people use the wrong terminology but dont get all up tight and try to explain to them that they may be using the wrong terminology.
Oh and the same goes for spelling errors becuase personaly Im horible at spelling.

I could argue that a word cannot represent an object, since an object is tangible and a word is not, but I'm not really up for that kind of debate. But I will make the point that incorrect terminology can be confusing when trying to discuss. If someone comes in and says they're an empath, but they really mean a telepath (and yeah, they can be related, but they're not identical, and quite different), it can get confusing. It's fine to suggest other names, or state what we call it in the guild for sake of a common name, but "nuh-uh, you're wrong! it's telepath, stupid!" is just damn annoying.
But I do have a comment or two about the spelling and grammar thing. First, the main point of this guild is intelligent discussion and debate. Spelling and grammar mistakes are fine, but a blatant disregard of any language whatsoever is just damn annoying. And idiotic. If you were given the gift of language and fingers to type it out with, DO IT. But your mistakes are all right, FLCL, albeit minorly annoying at times. At least you try more than most.

Going off what Dras said, having weak skill in typing or spelling isn't a big deal as long as you're making an effort.
Complete disregard for the wonders of the Shift and punctuation keys is something that we shouldn't have to deal with.

I don't think the problem is any kind of wrong terminology. I don't think there's any such thing, particularly in such a subjective field as magic. Whatever terms increase your understanding are necessary for your communication with yourself (which sounds rather alchemical to me...).
I think the problem comes from a lack of a common language to use. Science uses latin nomenclatures for animals, and a specific type of nomenclature for chemicals. This makes it easy for someone within the respective fields to know what another person is talking about. For example, NaCl (Sodium Chloride) is table salt. The lack of common language means that we cannot depend on one another as much as we could otherwise. However, it also means that we don't have to make concessions about our understanding.

How do you find "wrong" terminology? I think the only wrong terms are ones which convey inaccurate understanding. And "wrong" terminology can be a problem if you have someone using uncommon or making up their own.

Hahha, oh termology cracks me up sometimes, I mean how one thing can have so many different names, Check this out, WIcca, Voodoo, Chaos, those are just a few, but they are different names for the same thing, magick. And then you get the people who are all defensive that their term and what they know is the only truth. I mean ********! but, then agian I probably don't use proper terms sometimes, i'm a hands on learner, not a text book learner.

The FLCL Guy Thats not what Im talking about, Im trying to say that things can be called so many things and sense someone was taught the wrong name doesnt not void his knowledge. yeah. you mean how you can call em curtains, call em drapes, call em climbing toys for cats, doesn't change what they are, even though some people would argue that it has to be one way and it's the only way because it's theirs. right?
