Haha. Aqua.
Anywho.
I've heard some people these days talk about how Barbie is to blame for all the sex-hopped, looks-crazed, materialistic youth out there. And that Bratz and such are just like...little ghetto Barbies. Descended from her, so to say.
Then I've heard it say that Barbie isn't to blame, Barbie just reflects our society. As the girls became sluts, the Barbies become sluts to to speak.
I guess I could see it. But I guess I can't either.
All I know for sure is Barbie used to look high-classy.
So what say ye? Is Barbie the b***h (to blame) or the bimbo (just goin' with the tides)?
DISCUSS

This was my take on the subject:
Barbie is both an influence, and reflection of the state of affairs today. As someone said earlier, it was started on the ideals of feminism, but over time, and after going through the marketing machine, it's now the vein, blond bimbo stereotype you've come to know. Working at Toys 'R' Us, I see a lot of toys come and go, and to me damn near all of them are a bad influence on a kids thinking and perception of society. Dora, Bratz, Barbie, just name one, and I can guarantee if I saw my kids playing with it, I'd rip it out of their hands and smash it over and over, until it turns to dust.
The last thing I'd want from a toy, is to teach my kids how to be vain, materialistic, shallow, ignorant, and unintelligent. I'll take them playing with a wrench, over playing with a Barbie any day of the week.
