I was right! metal can be bended, Earthbenders just wer'nt trying hard enough. This is a great thing now Earthbenders have an edge. Well I would like to hear your thoughts on this development.
Oh and maybe this could be a high up level abillity for Earth benders?

We mentioned it in the Q/S thread. Humbra said possibly an [HB] -15 ability.
Well really no bending has an edge over any other bending. They balance themselves out. each discipline has a sub discipline (ie earth, metal; fire, lightning; water, healing; air, ?)
I think that air will be the ability to create sound waves, or sonic booms.
I think that it was interesting, I knew if it would happen Toph was the one to do it. Her lack of sight let her see what kind of earth was in the metal. I thought that was pretty cool. It was fairly anticlimactic, I was hoping for a showdown between the three earthbenders.

Yah I agree, though it was very camedic, pues (but, for you non spanish speakers) it was pretty comical though. There also wouldn't be time for the big show down in the second half if they did that. It also showed the supremasy of Toph. Now imagine what will happen if other Earthbenders learn this, they tuch fire nation army, well see some meudilated corpses.

Well, the thing is, I think the fire nation and earthkingdom are evenl matched because they'd all be considered about lb-mb in the army right? The only people who would be stronger would be people like the Dai Li and generals/captians, etc.
Also, I got so dissapointed when I heard earthbenders could metal bend. (don't get me wrong, That is AWESOME!) But now waterbender's are going to have even MORE trouble dealing with earthbenders T.T Goodnews: You have to be -15 biggrin

If I could just add a little something to this conversation, water isn't left out of this little loop here. Earth can bend metal, fire can generate lightning, water can create ice. The only one who I see left alone here is air. All of that is just my opinion though. ^^;

ice isnt water's sub discipline. Healing is.
ice water and steam are essentially the same thing in different forms (i.e solid, liquid, gas)
water- healing earth- metal fire- lightning air- ? (I think it'll be the ability to create sonic booms)

I apologize for the necroposte, but I have to throw my two cents in on this.
Conceivably, if Air gets Sound as its sub-discipline, sonic booms could be resultant. However, this is something I'd expect only to see from a trained Air Avatar. The sheer amount of energy produced by breaking the sound barrier at Mach 1 is amazing, far above anything a bender could put into it.
The speed of which is needed is at least 750mph, I might add, which is the general speed of Mach 1. Obviously there are other levels to this, but I can't see any human producing energy past that, Avatar or not.

i didnt think about the force it would take to create a sonic boom... Then do you have any idea what air's sub might be?

Air seems to be it's own sub ability. The sheer flexibility of it's technique, Flying Increased running speeds, even as seen when Aang fought Boomie, Tornadoes os enough to compinsate for the lack of a sub skill.

I think your right, I mean out of all the bending disiplines Air can probably hold it's own the most.

Actually, I don't think metal bending is available to all earth benders, but merely just Toph. If anything metal bending is a bending element all in its own, just like how a fire bender can't bend water. Earth and metal are two different elements, therefor, they cannot both be done by one person. I think it may be just be because of Toph's situation, you know, her eyes. There is no doubt that the two elements are alike, maybe Toph just saw the line that stands between the two and crossed it. It could possibly be that she is the only earth bender that will be able to bend metal. Or perhaps, one of the few who can. I'm not quite sure if even the avatar can bend metal or sand, things like that. I think he may only be able to control the 4 main elements. No the other elements that aren't as powerful. So, in a way, metal bending for earth benders could be like lightning bending for fire benders. Only a select few can harness its power. Either way, I don't think every earthbender will be able to use metalbending. But that is just my thoughts.

Kagome, Earth and Metal are the same things. The reason Toph can bend it is because of the Earth in the metal.
And to the last part I would like to say no s**t sherlock. Metal, Healing, and Lightning are all different from their elements but are all essentially the same. Only a few firebenders can seperate the energies of yin and yang to bend lightning, just as it could be said that only a select few waterbenders can actually heal.

I need to throw my hat into the ring too. xP I think any Eathbender can bend Metal, but it's very hard. The only reason could do it with only a few tries was because she could see the earth inside of the metal, thus, letting her use her natural talents to bend the earth inside the metal. That's why she can't like turn metal into a ball or anything, because the earth's inside the metal, and she bends the earth within. Yeah, if you weren't able to see the earth, it'd be like... Um... Er... I can't think of a good analogy, but say you could bend pearls. xD But seriously, say you could. And you didn't know which clam had the pearl in, so you'd randomly be striking the clam, hoping to bend a pearl inside.

Jeffry Naiom No healing seems like a pretty standard technique. Remeber the North pole Men=Fighting techs Women=Healing techs Be glad I dont go into a whole rant over that. It's called research, do it some time. Healing is the sub of water, as metal is the sub of earth, and lightning is the sub of fire. There are probably only a few people in the guild that know more about the bending than I do.
