I just finished watching Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex 1st GIG for my second complete time form beginning to end. The first time I did I was so absorbed into the GITS world and what was happening on the screen I didn’t really hint into some of the more complex story points. My second time around I took a far more analytical view to the GITS world.

An this is what my ghost whispered to me in relation to the identity of the Laughing Man. I think most people believe that Aoi was or is the Laughing Man but my ghost tells me that he was he was only a contributor that famous symbol. We have all seen the original Serano hostage footage witch brings up the first question why would Aoi a super class A hacker resort to such a public display, especial Aoi who seems to work very hard at staying invisible going has far as hacking people’s eyes and using mind hacked people the communicate with others. So the now the next question is who is the man with the gun in the hostage footage, this is what I my theory to that question. If you watch the very last .ep of series you see a man walk pass Serano than he says something I can’t remember the line….something about “bending morals” than Serano goes to open his car there’s a strange noise Serano gasps and than they fades out to a new scene, but I am guessing the car goes boom. I believe that man was the man with the gun who took Serano hostage and Aoi was the responsible for the hack job that caused the mass Stand Alone Complex phenomenon. Also take into fact that the motives, the man with the gun seems to be bent on revenge against Serano well Aoi motives are to get out the truth behind the cover up of the vaccine.

You make some very interesting points but if you watch the episode where the major using Aoi's memories impersonates the laughing man explains the whole situation. Honestly there is an entire episode devoted to this very topic but any way Aoi was naive enough to think that if he came in person and made the man see he was wrong that he could make a real difference. The reason the situation went the way it did was because he lost his patience and temper.

In the episode where Togusa asks permission from the Major to pursue the Salinger angle, Episode 20: Re-view, I think, Togusa clearly states the reason the Laughing Man came out into the open in the original incident.

I reviewed the episodes and well…ah….my theories where crackpot at best. I blame lack of sleep, stress at work, my addiction to caffeine and of course violent video games. Also my ghost the one that been whispering to me…..may be CRAZY.
