Ok, i'm sure we've all seen some practitioner like that on gaia, where everything they do is evil, they make it a point and push it in everyones face that they are an angry angry lefthander and practice magick almost for the sheer sake of pissing off the Christians. I call them scraps and let me tell you why,
A Scrap is,
someone who is always looking to fight but having no real cause to fight, someone who always has to seem diabolical, doesn't matter where you've been or what you've done the scrap says he/she is more powerful at magick than you, their way is the only way, when in all reality, they are nothing but a scrap to the world wasting their time, and they will remain a scrap until the scrap gets beaten out of them, literally or figuratively,
Now I know I should be nice, but I love to piss off scraps, not that I have anything against the lefthanded path though, nothing against them, but I think we have all met a scrap or two, Anyways, that is my pet peeve in other practitioners. I just thought it would be a hoot to hear everyone elses, some things are obvious such as being fluffy or some stuff like that.
but I have noticed too, that being a scrap will damper your ability because you get too cuaght up in what other people are doing or think of you, so that also brings up another point, does the doubt of other people affect your magick? I don't let it affect mine but it took me a while to get there.
Oh, and this keyboard doesn't liek me, I idd a quick proofread though there may still be som errrors in my typing.

I thought the second picture in your thread was kinda pretty. The first one, I was a little thrown off by. It's awfully bloody and looks kinda sad..Well, at least it does to me. I fail to see how the third one is dark though, but that's just me. sweatdrop

My guess is a reference to the romans refering to the left hand as being "sinister" though I'd like to make sure.

Left-hand path is a branch of satanism. Using OTO terms, it refers to "White" Magic (elimination of ego in deference to "greater" goals) as the Right-hand path. "Black" Magic (preservation and elevation of ego) as the Left-hand path.
Left-handers actually tend to be thoughtful, philosophical individuals, and I haven't met many Left-handers who both know what the Left-hand path is about and proclaim themselves to be evil.
My pet peeve is so many people who speak in different languages and are trying to say the same thing. Especially with the prevalence of Wicca, there seems to be a thought that a universal discipline of mysticism doesn't exist, which I don't think is right, even in terms of Chaos Magic.

Well as far as the bnit about ego, I'd say I most assuredly fall more towards the "left" path (which is ironic).
I'd not necessarily call myself Satanic in any means, but my interests do tend toward darker matters.
As for the division you speak of, it is just part of human nature. People want to think that they are unique, and that only a few do what they do.

Well, let me explain how I see the left handed path then so my post makes more sense. I see the lefthanded path as being anti-Christian, or aginst some Christians or aspects of Christianity, that I am, however some poeple go left hand and always have to seem menacing or diabolical and always say they are way better than magick than you could ever hope to achieve, and then they claim the left handed path just so they can be an a*****e. When people get like that I have no real respect for them because I see that as faking or fad following, sometimes both, both of those are big pet peeves of mine. But a lefthander who is just not on a Christian path and does not go out of his way to bash other people just becuase he's a lefthander or some form of satanist I have no problem with. Make sense? Lu, lu, lu, I've got some apples. Lu, lu, lu, you've got some too...

Thoughtful individuals I like. Lefthanders who try to be evil just because it's the cool thing to do I hate. I'll tell you what evil is, evil is just bugging someone for hecks sake and brutally messing up their life and laughing your a** off about their predicament, though in relaity you could care less if the person has it easy or has it hard. Evil is not dark and scary kill everything. And no matter what you say, we are all a bit evil sometimes.

Mankind has limitless capacities for both good and evil. It is all a matter of choice. I'm far from evil, though others might argue that point.
The irony I made mention of about being "left" from Laren's description is: I am politically "right."
Anyway:
I'd not sat I am antichristian, I have an abundance of ideas that I just choose to not thoroughly sort through. At one point I could have been described as a Baha'i kinda guy. I am a thinker, we'll just leave it at that. As far as religion goes though, especially Christianity, it is stated in the Bible that God will call people to believe. This means that it is no individual choice on believing or not, it will either happen or it won't. Once a person believes then they can pick their own "side." Likely the majority of the people who claim to be "left" or satanic don't really believe, they just choose that path as an alternative, or because they disagree with it least.
I would suggest avoiding the concepts of good and evil though... it polarizes arguements/discussions, and no body will agree on a set definition... Also, the concept has been flogged like the dead horse it is for several thousand years...

That's all well and good, but if you can't communicate with what few others there are, how can you truly advance on the path? I like Gray Magic. Preservation of self in service to others.
