I used to have a serious OCD with washing my hands, some times I could take about 2 hours to wsh my hands and even then I might end up doing it again about 2 minutes later. D: That was SO annoying!

I also used to repeatedly say the same thing when a phone add would come on.

I often say 'I love me, my family, my friends, mypets, my familys pets and my friends pets' repeatedly because I feel something bad might happen to them if I didn't say it. I also sometimes say that but go into a big explenation with myself of how that includes all the dead in heaven that were good and didn't commit a serious crime or do anything really bad.

I also do things in semetary (it's a habit), if someone brushed off my left arm I might turn around and get them to do the same to my right arm.

Or if I stood on a crunchy leaf with one foot, I'd do the same with my other foot with another crunchy leaf that made a similar noise to even it out.

I think my washing my hands OCD is coming back aswell.

I have/had a fear of poverty, and for some reason I would repeatedly say the same thing if an advertisement for phone ringtones, images, videos and/or subscriptions to that company or add ect. came on th television or I seen it somewhere else.

You somehow reminded me of Qing-jao, one of the characters from Orson Scott Card's Xenocide. She had exactly the same obsession with washing off her hands.

I'm afraid I can't help you out on this one, though. OCD is a serious psychiatric disease and must be treated by a psychiatrist. Ask your dads to get you one. He'll probably know what to do.

Well my OCD for washing hands was really bad, I stopped because my mom told me to stop for her because I was getting dry, red skin on my hands and I was spending a long time when washing my hands, it was annoying to feel I needed to wash my hands when I touched things, or things that had touched things, but now it's much better than it was.

I have OCD, and so do most of my friends. For example ifI accidentally hit my hand, I'll have to do the same to the other. I hate using public toilets, and opening doors.

There are some other conditions which can incorporate OCD-like tendancies as part of their defining characteristics.

You should look at any other unusual behavioural quirks you might have, or any problem areas, and think if it could be the result of something underlying. The best thing to do would be to go to a psychologist and have some tests done to figure out exactly what is making you behave this way. They can help you, but only if they know exactly what is going on.

I have OCD..but not so much with washing hands, but I still have this thing about germs. I hate water. If I'm going to get wet I either have to have my whole body completly wet..none of this just a little part of it. That's when I discovered hand sanitizer. It's not as harsh. Maybe you should try using that?

I know it helps me. It automatically makes me feel clean. Even if I feel as though I thought of something 'dirty' that I'm uncomfortable with..I go to the hand sanitizer because it makes me feel clean.

Meh..I'm odd.

My little sister has OCD... She says sorry for everything bad..If someone has a headache she says sorry, if someone stubs their toe she says sorry, if someone is having a bad day she says sorry, if she gets emotional she says sorry about 15 times, and most of all if someone tells her she's saying sorry for so much she says sorry again. I feel so bad for her because her friends don't understand it. But she is fairly messed up I mean she has duel personality, severe paranoia, stress-induced schizophrenia and mild psychosis. Mostly she doesn't get out cause people make fun of her. Her friends get mad at her for her OCD. I hope you don't get made fun of because of it. That's just not cool.

In most cases, I would say you can't self diagnos yourself with OCD, and a bunch of other random crap... However, I think that you do. It can be cured though, with effective treatment. And the recovery rate is really good. Something like 87% maybe. I don't have my books here, but it's high. Get your folks to get you to a psychologist or psychiatrist, and have them work with you. This is clearly having a large impact on your every day life, and interfering... It's probably best to have it treated.

I'm pretty sure I have mild OCD, though I shouldn't diagnos myslef, like Kori Elzix said... I know it's annoying to other people and youself, but the best you can do is go to a psychologist or psychiatrist, and read up on the subject possibly...I can't obviously give you very good advice because I'm not an expert. >>;

love, OCDs can get extremly serious. I've met a person who had it and she's completly changed now. definantly seek a therapist. you have to learn how to stop the behavior before it gets out of hand. im not saying that this is the most extreme case of an OCD but it could get worse.

You have to fight it with will power.
I have it myself a bit, like once I remember saying to myself I'd die if I wasn't dressed by the time this girl had texted me back.
You have to fight it, just say "NO, this WON'T happen if I do this", you might also want to seek therapy.

Maybe your hands are also feeling gross and flithy after you touch something. this could be due to the dry skin. I know that makes my hands feel dirty. try moisturizing your skin. you might also feel it less when you touch other things.

it is a mental condition, but you can do things to help.

Hating opening doors isn't really that OCD. that's just kind of safe. Especially in public restrooms.
