This is one of the worst things that has happened to me so far in High School. I swear. It's ripping me to shreds.
Choir class has lost its enjoyment.
I mean, my first three weeks of High School (I'm in the 11th grade now) was awesome, because I found out about the joys of choir.
But now... it's just not worth going, anymore. I mean, every time I walk into that room, the first thing that happens is some girls have to make a comment like "Hey, look, the green goblin is here" or "oh, ew, she's here". And then I sit down with my friends, and wait for class to start, and I have to put up with their preppy crap. Sometimes girls come over to comment on how green my hair looks today, or how nice it is of me to wear the latest styles in poser-goth wear.
And I dont even dress like a ******** goth.
And then, during the warm-ups, I get dirty looks, and called a show-off because I like to sing out during warm-ups, to warm up my throat better. Then, during the song, or when the teacher is talking, I get dirty looks for no fricken reason. The girls just look over their shoulder, stare at me coldly for a second, then look away.
And then I can't say ANYTHING in class, or suddenly people have to make fun of me.
Today I finally got frusterated when one of the girls (who has never insulted me before) shouted out "You all sound like crap!" and she's the same level as me, right. I said (actually in a calm tone) "well I don't hear you belting it out". I got up maybe three or four minutes later to go get a dirnk of water, and as I passed she called me a "stupid fat whore".
It's just things like that for over an hour and a half, every other day! And I don't know what it is, because it isn't happening in other classes... it's sort of like that in the hallways, but not as bad!
I really don't know what I'm doing in the class to make them do things like that. I mean, I come in, I sit, I sing. Thats what I do. I might make helpful comments, or play an accompaniment... but... it's not like I'm putting my neck on a block or anything.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love to sing, and while we're singing, I just love it...
but every time I step into the rehersal room, I feel my heart sink down because I know there's a bunch of chics who just want to make it hell for me.
._.

No one should ruin something like choir for anyone. It should feel good. Choir isn't about wagging war against your own side.

Hm. Personally, I'd attack one of them. It doesn't have to be all of them, but just one would scare them off. I know a choir is supposed to get along and stuff, but seriously. They started it. Its up to you to finish it. Punch one of them in the face. Start a fight if you have to. Once you challenge one of them, it'll most likely stop because they'll either chicken out and back off, or they'll lose all dignity.

You should sit at home, and try to come up with witty retorts for their insults, or practice smiling at them. I know it's hard to keep up for an extended period of time, so just try it for one day straight, see how much it bewilders them. Therefore, they shut up.
I know what you mean theough. When I first joined Chorus, the girls were total biyotches to me. I had blue hair back then, and kept getting asked if it was dyed with ty-di-bowl.

Or, you know, not because half of them are taller than me and have butch friends that could beat the crap out of me, despite my martial arts and weaponry training.
Not to mention that would get me kicked out of choir class, AND suspended from school. Violence is almost never the answer, I learned that in my "let's beat up everyone that pisses me off" stage. It's irrational to resort to such temperamental solutions, especially with greatly imposing consequences.
Just because I hit one down, does NOT mean the rest will back off. In fact, it will probably make it worse for me.

Just because I hit one down, does NOT mean the rest will back off. In fact, it will probably make it worse for me. That last statement is most definately true. Been there, done that. It's like a sea of endless people you want to hurt, and not enough time (or excuses) to smack them... And don't show that it gets to you, because that makes it bad too. It shows them that what they are doing is getting the desired effect... and if you yell at them about it, they'll probably do something like this... "Sheesh! You take everything so personally! I was just kidding!" Which makes you look like a horrible person and them the victim, instead of the other way around. So many ways to handle this wrong, it's insane. I don't think I could give perfect advice on exactly what to do, because every situation is different, but I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do!

So far I've been ignoring them and giving them the odd "shut up" look.
Sometimes my :shut up" looks can be quite convincing o_o;;;
Anyways. Choir class tomorrow. I'm HOPING my director is going to let me play drums, finally, so I'll be in the back of the room without all the pricks. I'm more comfortable back there, anyways.
If not, well, it's going to be another oh so fun class of cheers and jeers.

Drums make everything better 3nodding
Glad the 'shut up' look works- and I hope your choirmates realize they're being immature little ... I can't think of the right noun. You get the point.

o_O; I read that as "drugs make everything better" at first xd had to do a double take!
Well, I didn't get to play drums, but I did spend a good quarter of the class in with the director doing my vocal exam (I got 90%!!!) and then out helping one of the teachers in the hallway. So that was good, and some (alot) of the preps weren't there, because we had a sub (again, director was doing voc exams) so it was all good.
Now I have to get through Thursday's class XD
Hoping for drums again.

Congrats on your exam! Sounds like today was good for you, lets hope tomorrow is too! And that you get to play drums (and not drugs!)

Practice comebacks in your head.
I've always got something prepared. Luckily though, I've always been passed over, not sticking out enough to incite much teasing.
But anyway, you just ignore those bitches! Sing your heart out!
Don't let them know that it gets to you. That would be the worst thing of all. The few times people do tease me, or try to say something to catch me off guard, I usually give them a nonchalant, "That's nice. " ^_^ It usually confuses them or just makes everyone else laugh, making the teaser look like an idiot. Mwerher.

I know it sounds wussy and childish, but seriously tell somebody. Make some noise! If one of them insults you, say back loudly "I don't appreciate being called/being told I'm a [insert their comment here]." Embarrass them!
This is what works for me, at least. Let somebody know, whether you tell them directly or you just make some noise. Good luck. The guild is pulling for you, from what I can see.

Thanks, folks!
Well, today they handed me the good ol' drum, and I was able to escape for a bit. Good fun...
