I just thought it would be neat to see how and when everyone writes. Me, for example, I always write on paper and then later I'll put it inot the computer...maybe. (this is why I haven't posted any of my writing yet) I also like to write during class or work when I should be doing other things. My biggest stumbling block is puncuation. I'm messy with quotations marks and forget them half the time when I really get going. Lets see.....what else? Oh, I'm kinda sexist and usually perfer women as the main characters. I'm not completely against guys, I just write what I know and I know I'm a woman! xd

When ever I get an idea I tend to write it down regardless of where I am or what I am suppose to be doing.

Yeah, I mostly type it out. If I make any major changes (like right now, i'm in the process of changing a long story from present tense to past tense) I save it to a different name, and keep going in the new one. For instance, I have Paladin, Part One, Versions A, B, and C... xd
If i get an idea, I tend to keep a notebook nearby, but since mostly it's in the form of dialogue that later becomes a scene, it tends to bug me until i write it down anyway.

I write mostly when I have a lot of emotions bundled up and I just sit down and type whatever I think of at the time...

I write all over the place; school, work, my room. Alot of times i don't have a notebook with me so its not unheard of to use old popcorn bags or recept tape. I actualy have 3 different stories going right now. one is scifi one is fantasy and one is a romace (never thought i would write one of those)

My best writing usually took place on my old typewriter.... It moved fast, but somehow I got writer's block less often than I do with the computer. I like writing on paper--it usually comes out better--but sometimes it overflows, because I can't write fast enough. sad

I write whenever inspiration hits me. I usually carry a small note book around with me.

I write dark fantasy and horror, and absolutely LOVE my word processor--I used to own an electric typewriter and absolutely hated the physical process of typing, as my best ideas often come to me when I was halfway through the page. I also had a terrible case of writer's block which lasted the better part of a decade until I received medication for a mental disorder, which helped me to organize my thoughts and write. I do my best writing in the afternoon and evening when I am the most relaxed and can think clearly and coherently; as a chronic insomniac, some of my best story ideas come to me when I'm trying to sleep. I'm living proof of the old saying: "You don't have to be crazy to be a writer... but it helps."

When I get an idea, unless I'm at home I never write it down, convincing myself I'll remember. Then, I get home, and I try to remember the idea, guess what? I can't. Then I turn emo for the rest of the day.
When I write, I only ever do it on the computer, I can't stand writing by hand, it's tedious, and, to me, down right stupid when you could do it on a computer just as easily, only with a spell checker and the oh-so-holy undo button.
The kind of things I write . . . this is difficult, normally fantasy and action with a dash of romance but I hate to have romance rule my story. It just seems to suck out all 'oomph' to me.

I like to write my story down in notebooks. I usually write during school (actually, that's where I do my best work) or sometimes late at night in bed. then i go and type it up when I have time. Then i can easlily lend my story to freinds for them to read.

Try getting yourself a pocket-sized journal or note-card thing and stick in your purse or pocket. Then when you get an idea, jot down the jist of it in the notebook, and notations on any pertinent details--who's present in the scene, emotions, etc. Then when you get home you can flip it open and get yourself back into the scene. It can take some trial and error to figure out the amount of detail you need to prompt yourself, but it's SO worth it. Oh, and I write all kinds of stuff--scifi, fantasy, romance, mystery, horror, erotica (not here, obviously), action, historical, even the occasional piece of poetry.

I forgot. I use a computer--desktop at work or laptop at home or when I travel--usually, but I have been known to use whatever was handy. I have made use of personal journals, scrap computer paper, parchment scraps, napkins, note cards, backs of birthday cards, wine bottle wrappers, and the inside of a book (in pencil--I'm not a TOTAL heathen) among many other things. FYI, most toilet tissue bleeds to much to be useful.... a piece of info from my mis-spent college years. Don't ask, 'cause I won't tell, I wasn't there, and you can't prove a thing.

Gah! I'm the only person who voted for sci-fi!
Anyway, I almost always write on the computer. Nothing against paper, it's just easier. To write a good story I have to be in just the write mood, which happens less than I would like. Usually late at night. Problem is, after I start a story I have trouble getting back into the right mood to finish it. Oddly, I tend to write more of what would be considered fantasy than sci-fi... but I'm better at the sci-fi. I love making up impossible technologies and passing them off as plausable. Heh. I'm actually pretty good with romance when it's mixed in with a story (rather than just a pure romance story).
I almost always remember my ideas... which is nice, because my memory in other areas isn't so good.

I have been trying to write on the computer lately, but its just not working out too well.... so I am going back to pen and paper. It is easier to carry around (compared to my laptop) and I can be pretending to take notes during my work meetings wink
