I highly suggest reading this, everyone. Even if you already know a lot about firebending this small and short guide will give you an extra tid-bit of education. It's fairly interesting, too, if I do say so myself. Especially the link to the ROYGBIV colour scale.

It is impossible for zuko to bend lightning due to emotional turmoil.
and what happened to that other interesting link?
let me quote this:
Lightning- Few firebenders possess the electrokinetic ability of Lightningbending for a firebender to generate lighting it requires your mind to be devoid of emotion and the ability to separate the powers of yin and yang. The firebender capable of doing this guides rather than controls the lightning. Again, the color spectrum has it’s part in this so far the only firebenders capable of the electrokinetic ability are General Iroh and Princess Azula, Azula’s lightning is blue (more intense) and zig-zag shaped, while Iroh’s is green (less intense) and more stringy. Lightning seems to be hotter and more intense than regular fire, but it also takes longer to perform it requires a circular movement with the arms and much concentration.
in that video zuko display little to no concentration. And another thing is that the "lightning" zuko produced was not the shape or sound of the lighting iroh or azula can produce. And it doesnt last nearly as long. If it were lightning then it wouldnt have been blue because that is high color intensity, because it was so weak it would have been a much lesser color.
Humbra, I would greatly enjoy that link you mentioned above about the color scale.

I agree that the video link I posted wasn't about lightningbending. However, it did show the fact that Zuko has the ability to place a 'lick' of flame at the end edge of his sword. It's a fairly interesting characteristic of firebending, methinks. There's comments at the bottom of the video if you're interested in some of the theories people have put up about the vid's bending. Oh well. It's probably nothing, anyway. Maybe it's just air that's trailing off the edge of the blade? Or maybe there's just a small bit of tea being slid off at the very edge of the blade? *Shrug*

ah, i see. but you are absolutely right, I find firebending to be the best simply because of this. The sheer force that cant be created with the fire along with the power to use a weapon in it I think is what lets it stand apart from the others.
ah I see it now. i must have misread. My apologies. I'm just glad someone finally read it. sweatdrop
I went more in depth about the fighting styles. and the specific style my character uses as northern mantis. how it suits firebending. and also the basic styles incorporated.
As zuko has displayed before he can use his fire with his swords so perhaps that is just blue fire?
edit: but then he hasnt been able to use that either.
I guess it is just an effect then
