First, format your title right, and second, what is umbrakinesis? Control of shadows.
Actually- photons aren't objects that exist or don't exist. These people or horribly mistaken ^^;; Photons are constantly travelling. At the speed of light, in fact
3nodding Visible photons (the ones that allow us to see colors as opposed to the blackness of shadow) are short enough for their crests pass a point about 450,000-600,000 times in a second, if I recall correctly.
Now by crests I'm referring to the fact that photons act like a wave (the crest of a wave is the highest point on it). A photon is nothing but a single particle of energy. It's a single "piece" or "unit" of energy. When an electron drops down one level in an atom, it releases one of these pieces of energy. This piece will travel into the atom beside it. The atom beside it will then absorb this photon and one electron will raise one level. It'll stay this way for about 1/1000000th of a second, then the electron will fall back down, releasing the photon to the next atom. However since electrons are always moving, the photon sometimes goes off at a very slight angle instead of moving perfectly forward as we would hope it to. This causes things to look distorted as light passes through matter.
Anyway- on to shadows. The world is naturally black. Dark. Cold. Nothing. Matter and energy are what fill this world, and in their absence we're left with the dark, cold nothingness. So imagine these photons are travelling in a wave-like manner at the speed of light and they hit an object that they can't easily pass through. The photons will not have enough energy to get through the object and will instead be absorbed (warming the object slightly) and behind the object there'll be dark, cold nothingness. Absence of light or photons.
Now lets think of how to
control shadows. If you were to take the photons beside said object and deflect them towards the shadow of the object they could illuminate it, removing the shadow. Here's another suggestion. If you were to take the photons beside said object and deflect them AWAY from the shadow, the area with no photons will be greater and the shadow will grow.
Umbrakinesis is nothing more than psychokinesis on a sub-microscopic level ^_^ Don't think it's that big of a feat, though. For after all- that's what pyrokinesis is, too. Fire is when atoms have so much energy and vibrate so vigorously that electrons fall off their paths. Whenever an electron falls off its path it produces a photon. If the object is hot enough, these photons will be visible.
