Well, I was thinking that since we are the "Honorable Association of Merchants," we should have a thread to go to one another for advice on things having to do with (the) exchange.
For example, how much should I price (insert item)? What is reasonable? Sometimes the price guides aren't always correct, yanno? Even so, sometimes it's hard to make up your mind. ^^;
Another example, would (so and so) be a good investment? What plan of action should I take since I'm questing? Et cetera. :3

I'll start. ^____^
Well, as some of you may know, I'm questing for angelic mini wings at the moment. I had a December letter in my offer, but I recently traded it in for six March letters. Do you guys think this was a good idea? Should I look for someone else and try to get my December letter back?
I thought it was a good idea. I mean, the December letter prices are rising very quickly and all that, but so are the March letters. I figured that with more March letters, each rising price rising as quickly as it is, it would be a better investment for my quest. -shrug-
Is it possible for the price of the December letters to inflate so much faster than the March letters that I would have actually lost a bit of my offer? o_o;

Personally, I wouldn't have done it. But you may be right in the Marches being worth more than a single December someday. Actually, I can see that happening VERY soon, as you stated that you have seen Marches being put out at 20k. Not to say that it'll happen overnight, but there are so many people out there looking for the slippers that the popularity makes the price go BOOM!
You may reap the benefits of that trade in as little as a month! [/unwarranted optimism]
Great thread idea, by the way!

Um... I need money. This guild cleaned me out, but GOOD.
Well, I guess I *want* money, then. For letters.
I'm wondering if I should try to get into the business again. But I'll be so busy here, I don't think I'll have the time to vulturize the marketplace for good deals like I used to. That, and I'll be opening up a new shop soon. Prreow.
Should I do it? Should I hire someone? Is it worth the trouble? And on that note, should I get three, and keep one for myself??

I'm just worried that the December letter's value's rate of change is drastically greater than the March letter's value's rate of change. Then my value will be less in the long run. But I guess that's the risk you take. :3
And thanks! ^____^
As for your issue, I don't know what to say other than asking you what your priorities are. I mean, if the question is whether or not you should get into the letter business.... Well, like you said, it's really time consuming and stuffs. Do you think you could handle that?
Would it interfere with the shop you know you want to open up? From personal experience, when I had my own little letter exchange shop thinger, I ended up closing it after two (very successful) weeks because the letter's prices kept climbing and you really have to keep up or you'll lose money. It became harder and harder to get the letters at the same price, even if it was only a week or so. Do you think you can keep up?
Either way, though, I wouldn't suggest hiring someone 'cause you should always do things like that yourself to ensure having it done the way you want to.
What letters are you looking to buy anyway? This month's sealeds?

I've been wanting to open up my own minishop but have no ideas on how to create it or what to put in it (Items, Banners, etc.) Could somebody give me some advice on how to create a decent minishop?

I don't know if I can keep up nowadays... too much work.
I want to keep up with the sealed letters, but I would like to get my hands on a January and possibly even a December (which I'll quest for soon).
Shai, I've only dealt in items so far. I could tell you about art and stuff once I open up my other shop... but item shops tend to always have some customers, from what I've seen. Wishlists and other lower-tech graphical art shops have a steady flow of consumers, but that depends on the quality. REAL art shops (that are good) will have more than their fair share of work to do. Now, how profitable any of these things are, I can't tell you. Try one out and see how you like it. No one said you had to do it perfectly the first time. 3nodding

Ooh. I have another question. Swapping 3 June letters for 2 March letters. Good idea or not?

[ Hiroko ] Ooh. I have another question. Swapping 3 June letters for 2 March letters. Good idea or not? Yes, definitely. Marches reaching 20k a piece now, so that's 40k. Junes are about 13k? Less? I'm not too sure because of more June items being sold than Junes, but let's say 13k. 13k x 3 = 39k < 40k = 20k x 2 Um, yeah. But the Marches are going up AGAIN! *runs to update her findings* So, um, yeah older=better unless you're talking Febs. Or Mays.

-nodnod- I went for the trade. I figured not only is it already worth more now, but the prices of the March letters also rise faster than the prices of the Junes.
