im the only girl in my trumpet section with 8 other boys. it's actually quite fun, i luv all of them to death, and then some. i honestly think it's better then being in the flutes or clarinets, simply b/c there no, or almost no boys. anyone in the same, or similar boat as me?
dicuss, what's it's like in your section in your situation!

I play the flute and the French Horn. The other french horn player is a girl, and I play the flute along with 2 other girls lol! I've never played with any boys, except when I was playing the bass drum on a song and the actual bass drumist wasn't there. We have a very small band.

umm...
me=baritone.
no other baritones in the baritone or tuba section. we didn't have a trombone girl until one moved in, but shes not really good and is kinda whore-ish so i dont really talk to her.
being the girl in low brass is uber cool.
we do have a few trumpet girls and our horn section is mainly girls. 3/15 girls in the trumpet section i think... i think we may have more trumpet but im going approximately
we only have like... 2 guys in our horn section. that's female dominated.

I'm in an almost all male section, too. whee It wouldn't be bad if half of them weren't annoying as hell. The alto saxes are slowly becoming a less male-dominated section, though... my freshman year the girl:boy ratio was 1:3, and this year it's almost 1:2. 3nodding
Edit: I'm pretty sure there's another thread like this... oh well, untill someone can find that one, this one can stay open. sweatdrop

in marching band there are 8 girls and 5 boys in the trumpet section.
in symphonic, there are 2 girls and 3 boys.
in jazz, 2 girls and three boys.
mm, the section isn't really dominated at my school, but my last year there was only one other girl in the section in symphonic, and a lot more boys. i don't really mind either way, and i don't prefer one gender over the other.
there's only one boy in the flute section though, and they have about 20-some people. razz

in our freshmen band, we have on male. when he moves up, he'll be surrounded by about 25-30 girls
we need less flutes

in my trumpet section in marching band it's half girls and half boys. 7 girls and 7 boys. most of the girls are juniors and seniors ^^ and there's only one girl freshman (me!) and one girl sophmore, so in 2 years if no other girls come in, it'll be only us 2!
and in jazz band, there are only 5 girls in the whole thing. its pretty sweet. lol

When I'm a trumpet, I don't give a s**t if we make the group sound like crap! xD That's the fun of it... I love to sit with my trumpets. Wait.... there's only two others besides me this year. x_x But at least I love one of them. Last year it was all just ... screwing around and having fun and pissing the teacher off LOL
I gotta admit, trumpets have all the fun. Seriously.... biggrin
