since she is a waterbender and he an airbender and avatar do we think if they get together their child will be the next avatar because the child will be of the water tribe the next tribe the avatar is to come from

well aang obviously is in love with katara, so there goes the just friends thing, and aang is the last airbender, he has to get married. their kid cant be the avatar because the avatar is only born when the previous avatar dies.

Two, then there would never had been airbenders. And three, no, their kid would not be the next avatar because Aang would have to be dead. sweatdrop Oh, and it's Katara

They don't nesacarily HAVE to be married to have kids, that's the whole thing about munks. No love. They have kids with one another by what the eleders say, all the kids go to a specail place where they are taken care of, with out parents. For them, parents are just people who gave birth to you, but no bonds, they aren't even aloud to know who is their kid/parent

Kitara should be Katara.

Well, they are obviously going to end up together, but the avatar cycle works differently.
It's not the avatar's child who is the next avatar, but his reincarnation. So Aang has to die first.

We all know Aang loves Katara, and I think Katara wouldn't totally resist being with Aang romantically. I am a Kataang shipper, and I think if Katara and Aang do have kids, it's possible one could be an airbender. But has an Avatar ever had a child? Because it might turn out that the kid(s) could be firebenders for all we know. Plus, when Aang dies, the Avatar spirit would go into a baby waterbender, not a possible child of his.
