Because of my lack of anything better to do with my free time, i am building the necronomicon. i have ways of making it look, feel and smell older then it is, but i face a problem, what to fill it with. Pictures and text, what should i put in it question

Someone already did that but I don't think they did a very good job with it. I'd just summerize some monsters and jot down some of the more famous stories.

Emi Uoza Someone already did that but I don't think they did a very good job with it. I'd just summerize some monsters and jot down some of the more famous stories. I know of at least a hundred people who did it, but all of them, sorta lacked a good contrent to it, kinda left lots of plot holes. But how would i add that, to give it that hole, bokk of dead feel question

Emi Uoza Mmm... no clue. Maybe make it smell bad? the process of aging the paper uses tea, coffee and soy sauce. I would think that would make it smell pretty bad i started working on writing styles, and for the text i decided to do vertical writing with the daerdic rune font from the elder scrolls games. It has that ancient spell like feel to it

I have mixed an ink that i will use, it is a mix of iron goll ink, india ink, and a light red. When it dries it looks like that dark brownish/black you find on old books.
The book will have about 800 pages. I can not find a sketch book the size i want with that many pages. Th size i want for this is 6" by 8 1/2" . I will have to buy several of the smaller sketch books and rebind them, or just cut and craft my own.
The cover of the book is causing a problem in the way that, i can not decide what i want it to look like. I am going to use a molding clay called sculpey to make the cover look how i want it to, when i decide on a design.

ninja It'd have to be in the ravings of an arab sooo yea...Lots of that stuff stuck in there...
Other then that the Necronomicron was supposed to be filled with rituals and the like, so either make your own involving blood, elder signs, etc or look up what they are by GETTING the Necronomicron...
Also the elder sign was a part of it...The real one that is, not the tree/start thingie. Elder signs don't actually look like that. ninja

i gained through a trade a copy of a book published in the 1960's that has some of his less popular stories, most of which have not been republished sence then. They seam to mostly focus around specific holidays of the elder god pantheon. domokun

I did the actual binding process , driiled a series holes along the spine then used twine to bind the two seperate sections together. I have some small brass hinges to attach the covers to the spine with, and i got some sculpey clay so i can mold the covers to look how i want them to.

I put a layer of black sculpey on the soon to be spine of the book, this way if the leather strip i am going to use does not cover anything, the clay will. It also strengthens the spine and the bind between the two sketch books.
