 Personality On the outside, Eri seems like a fragile and frightened young child. She is often seen lost in some sort of dream world of hers. She is shy, passive, over sensitive, and very child-like. Someone who didn't know her well might assume Eri is mentally challenged or something of that sort. However, one should not be fooled by her innocent appearence.
Eri comprehends a lot more than she is given credit for. She's very passionate and very determined to prove herself. Though she is young and very fragile, she works hard to prove she's more than just a breakable doll. Eri might seem like a hard nut to crack, but once you break through, she can be a caring and loyal friend to the end.

History of Eri Eri was the only child of Megan Draven, a dark haired, blue eyed teen with a lot of spark, and Jonathan Maraco, a fairly handsome jock with a nasty temper with everyone.
As the story goes, Megan and Jonathan were highschool sweethearts.One day Megan came up to him and said she was carrying his child. Jonathan said he would take care of everything. A few months later, he enlisted into the army because he couldn't get a good paying job. It was said that he was killed in the line of duty.
The true story is this: Megan and Jonathan were dating, but he was often pushy and controling. When she told him she was pregnant, Jonathan insisted that she get rid of the child. When Megan refused, rather than take on the responsibilty of parenthood, Jonathan packed up his things and vanished from sight. No one has heard from him since.
There was a lot of complications during the pregnancy and Eri was born premature. The doctors said she would make it but there was a few abnormalities. One, Eri's eyes were two different colors. One was blue and the other was light green in color. Another thing was that she was very small. They told Megan that Eri would never live to her full potential of health. As she grew up, Eri was very sickly and spent much of her early years in and out of hospitals. Her mother had no choice but to take a job as a secretary for a big name company in order to pay off the medical bills.
When Eri was around four years old, and her mother twenty-one, Megan met a business man from Japan who had come to America to speak with her boss about a new product for children.His name was Satuba Kurai. He was tall and intimidating at first, but Megan saw through all that. He inivited her to dinner and they hitted it off well. When he was in town, he sent gifts and money to Megan and Eri. Finally after a year and a half of dates, gifts and kindness Megan and Satuba were married. Megan Draven became Megan Kurai. She even had Eri's last name changed to Kurai. They moved to Kyoto, Japan.Megan set up a small herbal and charm shop. Eri went to school with other boys and girls and for a short time in her life, she seemed happy and healthy.
Life for them was peaceful. Satuba went to work to pay the bills and occasionally Eri's medical bills, which had decreased a lot. Megan set up and ran her shop through her house. All the money she made went to taking care of her daughter as far as clothing, school supplies, and a few toys.
Then one night, when Eri was seven, Eri woke up like she normally did to get a glass of water. Suddenly the smell of smoke filled her nose.She opened her door slowly and was greeted by flames covering the walls of the hallway. Eri rushed into the hallway and turned down another. She looked to her left to see the front door blocked by fire. Suddenly her pajamas caught fire and began to burn her right arm. Eri didn't have enough time to put her arm out. she turned to see the back door was free of flames. She ran towards it, jumped off her porch and collapsed on the ground with a roll. Her arm was put out but was still badly damaged.Sirens were already filling the night air. Soon firemen and neighbors were surrounding the house.
Eri watched from her garden in horror as firemen fought against her burning house with their hoses.It took them almost two hours to put it out. Those two hours seemed like an eternity for Eri. Suddenly she felt someone scoop her up. It was a local policeman. He took her to a waiting ambulance where they patched up her arm as best they could. Then she placed in a cop car and taken off to the station. Once there, she was placed in a room ment for interigating young children. She sat in there, playing with a doll before a detective joined her. He said from the looks of things there was some bad wiring in the house and it caused a spark that caused the fire. Eri was lucky to have escaped but just as she had gotten out the fire spread towards the back of the house and blocked off her parents from escaping. They did not make it.
Eri was now an orphan. The wounds on her arm healed up, but there was a lot of scaring. At first the police tried to place Eri with a relative, but Megan had no family in Japan and Satuba's family refused to take in a child that wasn't blood related. Eri ended up being put in an orphanage.She remained there until the age of nine.One day a strange woman in a black suit came and took Eri away. She put her in a home with a strange couple who put old traditions first. They were strict and overly proper. After four months of being ridiculed by her new parents, she ran away. Eri did not get far before she was picked up by the police in a local park. The family refused to take her back, saying she was a trouble maker.
Eri was sent to seven more homes. Each one she spent less than a year in, ranging from three months to ten months, before running away again and again. When Eri was around 15 she was sent to yet another home. She was to be living with an elderly woman who was very religous and had a thing for small and annoying dogs. The woman would often hit Eri with her cane if she did anything wrong. Finally, around her 16th birthday, Eri snuck out of the house and made a run for it. Luckily, the old woman lived a few streets from some boating docks. Eri knew she could hide on one of the boats for atleast a little while.She snuck over to a medium sized cargo ship. Eri checked to see if anyone was around before she climbed on board. There was some tarps off in a corner, a perfect hiding place. She curled up under them and hoped no one would throw anything ontop of her. As time passed Eri grew sleepy. Before she knew it she was asleep and the ship was moving.....

Size and Appearance:
this cat is unique in its appearance among the felids in that it more closely resembles a weasel. They have slender, elongated bodies, short legs,
a small flattened head, long "otter-like" tail, and a sleek, unmarked coat. Adults can weigh as little as 6 pounds or as much as 20. They stand 10-14 inches at the shoulder, and reach a length of 35-55 inches. Coats occur in 3 main color variations:black, brownish-grey, or red. Any or all colors can occur in a single litter, but generally the darker colors are usually found in the rain forest, while the paler color is found in the drier environments.The red color was once considered a separate species.
Habitat:
A cat of the lowlands, not generally found above 6500 ft., Jaguarundis occupy a wide range of both open and closed habitats –
from dry scrub, swamp and savannah woodland to primary forest. The factor used to determine habitat suitability is access to dense ground vegetation. Of all of the New World felines,
Jaguarundis are the most adaptable in its ability to occupy diverse environments.
Distribution: Northern Mexico, Central and South America, Texas and possibly Florida.
Social System and Communication: Jaguarundis are known to be solitary or travel and forage in pairs. They have a wide variety of vocalizations, with 13 distinct calls having been documented.
Hunting and Diet: Their primary diet is quite varied and is comprised of small rodents, rabbits, armadillos, opossums, quail, wild turkey, reptiles, frogs, fish and domestic poultry. They have also been recorded eating fish stranded in puddles.
Misc.
The Jaguarundi (Herpailurus yaguarondi) is a medium-sized Central and South American wild cat.These cats are closely related to puma as evident by their similar genetic structure and chromosome count.
These cats are comfortable in trees, but prefer to hunt on the ground. They prey upon fish, small mammals, reptiles and birds.
The litter consists of one to four kittens. They are raised socially after a 70-day gestation. The kittens become mature at approximately 2 years of age.
These cats are not particularly sought after for their fur, but they are suffering decline and extinction due to loss of habitat.

Japanese martens are found along valleys, primarily in broad-leaved forests (dominated by Quercus serrata and Castanopsis cuspidata). This species will use conifer plantations and open fields (Tatara and Doi 1994). It will use dens in trees and ground burrows (Nowak 1999). Characteristics of the Tsushima Islands include: 88% forested, mean low January temperature of 4°C, mean high August temperature of 26°C, uncommon and light snowfall, and a low human population (Buskirk 1994).
The head and body length is 470 to 545 mm (Anderson 1970). The tail length is 170 to 223 mm. Age of martens is determined by tooth eruption and wear. Sexes are significantly different in size, with males being larger (Tatara and Doi 1994). Mass varies from 500 to 1,700 g for adults. Nine live-captured males averaged 1,563 g and 4 females averaged 1,011 g (Tatara and Doi 1994). Pelage coloration varies from yellowish brown to dark brown throughout with a white to cream-colored neck patch.
Juveniles try to establish territories shortly after becoming sexually mature. Home range of male Japanese martens averaged 0.70 square km and females averaged 0.63 square km with less than 10% overlap between any 2 home ranges (Buskirk 1994). Relatively small home range sizes may depend on abundance and distribution of food within preferred habitat. Scats were found primarily in home range peripheries in a doughnut-shaped distribution. Scat placement confirms active maintenance of boundaries by scent marking, a common social behavior in mustelids (Tatara and Doi 1994). Martes melampus has been observed jumping up to 2 m from the ground into a tree (Yoshiyuki and Mikuriya 1974).
Scat analyses indicate that M. melampus is omnivorous. However, it may be characterized as an opportunistic generalist. It eats a highly diverse array of food through the year. Important foods are fruits and berries from spring to autumn, insects in summer and autumn, and small mammals and birds all year round. It likely competes with other carnivores for small mammals (Tatara and Doi 1994).
Foods eaten include plants (mostly berries and seeds),Rabbits and other small mammals,
Birds and/or their eggs,Invertebrates,Frogs and/or their eggs,Earthworms,Fish,Crustaceans, and Gastropods.
Japanese martens adapt fruit and berry foraging following plant phenolgy. How Eri got to the islandAn accident really. She had never truly intended for such a fate. Eri's constant hate for her foster families finally got the better of her. Ever since the tragedy with her parents, she prayed for an escape. She got it. Filled with fear, hatred, and sorrow, she ran away once more. This time Eri was going to make sure she would not get caught. It seemed simple enough. Hide out by the docks til things blew over, then make a run for it. Running never saved her before, but Eri was determined.
She made it to the docks with no problem. No one asked her any questions as to why she was out so late nor did they seem to take any notice in her at all. Eri picked out one particular boat. It was kind of small but seemed sturdy enough. A small cargo ship, nothing glamourous. The police would hardly notice it.
Eri snuck on while the captain and whatever crew he had was away. There were some tarps lying out on the deck. Perfect for hiding under without drawing too much attention. She crawled under them and stayed close to some crates. Part A of her plan was almost complete. There she waited. Hours seemed to pass by. Soon Eri grew sleepy. Before she knew it, her heavy eyelids closed and she was drifting into dream world, just as the ship was drifting out to sea.
Off it would go, to an island filled with lies and danger. Eri was taking her first step, not to freedom, but to a prison should could never escape.

Mental Note Eri suffers from a different variety of ailments, both mental and physical.
Phobia:
Belonephobia:Since Eri was of a sickly nature, she spent a lot of time in the hospital. Since she was in and out of hospitals, doctors were constantly surrounding her. Soon she developed a fear of doctors and nurses. However, her fear was more directed at the one object they pocessed that caused her pain: needles. Slowly her fear of doctors shifted to a fear of needles and then became a phobia. Eri dreaded doctor visits. Just the sight of a needle or something resembling one sends her in a state of terror. Eri suffers from shortness in breath, uncontrolable shaking, and dizzy spells which often result in black outs.
Pyrophobia: Eri also developed a deep phobia of fire. This is a result of not only being burned in a house fire, but also watching her home burn down and then learn that both her parents were lost in the blaze. She stays far away from things such as candles, campfires, and even little matches.
Eye Problems:
Eri was born with two different colored eyes. A rare genetic trait, no doubt.Because of this genetic mutation, Eri suffers from poor eye sight in daylight and sometimes temporary blindness in her blue eye.
The Burns:
Though the wounds have healed, Eri's arm is far from perfect. She is often forced to feel sharp pains throughout her arm. These pains can become so intense that she may break down and cry out in agony.
Physical:
Eri's birth was very complicated. Her immune system didn't develop proper due to her early birth. She gets sick quite often and is much weaker than most kids her age. She is refered to by many as " The Glass Doll."
