What are Fa'e? Fa'e are breedable pets. They're beautiful pieces of art that you roleplay as. They're a community where people don't godmode or compete or dramatize everything too much. They were created by Anya! Who still does their drawings, and she's assisted by Sosiqui, and many many other Fa'e owners. Why I want a Fa'e: For over four years (since December 29th, 2004) I've been questing for Claennis. I stalked the Fa'e before that, but quietly. I've always been a silent lurker, particularly when I admire the community as a whole and feel as though I'm intruding when I post. Now, I will admit that I have been on-and-off as far as being an active questor, but I have kept track, for the most part, of the basic goings-on around the thread. Why? Because I love the people. There are so many wonderful roleplayers involved in Fa'e. I want the chance to roleplay with them just as much as I want to see Claennis herself come to life because of how in love with the idea I've become. So, essentially, it's for you, Arrien, Lu, Sayuri, Neith, Xbear, Kochikens, Asahi. For you, Anya, Sosiqui, Lenore, Eirnae, Orestae. For Sundragyn and Flarie and Em and Akina and Zero. And for all those of you owners whom I've never had the chance to speak with, it's for you too. That's why I'm questing, and that's why I refuse to give up. <3

Name: Claennis Meaning of name: Anglo-Saxon for "Purity" Likes: Melted Ice Cream: Even better than regular ice cream. It's all melty and gooey and goes down your throat just like milk, only thicker. Claennis can't get enough of the stuff-- and she adores just about every flavour on the list, even the odder ones. Warm Climates: She does not like to be cold. This probably has to do with sword forging and such. She gets very sulky when she's not kept properly warm, so it's definitely easy to tell if she's cold. Seaweed: Along with melted ice cream, her favourite food would have to be seaweed. Surprising, considering how spicy the stuff is, but her delicate palette seems to accept it nonethless. Knowledge: Claennis enjoys -learning-. While she must work hard and study for all the information she gleans, she loves it. Riasa has instilled this love in her, and has supplied her consistently with all the books she may ever wish for to feed this flame. Magic: While unable to perform this herself, Claennis is fascinated by the magic that both her adoptive mother and the rest of the priesthood are able to connect with. The gifts that Selune bestows on those that serve her well. While Claennis has always been as spiritual as the rest, she finds herself unable to make that ephemeral connection. Dislikes:Squeaky Toys: They're loud. They're obnoxious. They serve no purpose. Even as an infant, these toys ceased to excite the little girl as much as they would most children. She simply cannot abide the squeakiness of them, I suppose. Disruptions: When Claennis is accomplishing something, she does -not- like to be interrupted. Even if the interruption would prevent her from making a mistake. In fact, however, it more often causes mistakes-- she gets distracted and forgets what she was doing. Destruction: In a manner of speaking. She can't abide unnecessary destruction. There is, obviously, some difference here. Afterall, a balance must be struck-- for every creation, something must be destroyed. Evil: Along the same lines of destruction. It is not so much that she dislikes it, but that she is afraid of it. Claennis literally believes that if she were to be used for an evil purpose, she would be destroyed just as she was when she was a sword. This comes from her prior awarenes, mostly. Injuries: Claennis dislikes being injured more than a scratch or a bruise, and will go to lengths to avoid it. She likes the little things, as they are more like battlescars to be proud of, however, major injuries terrify her, as she feels that she may become 'broken'. Personality: (In the process of being updated. xD. Template from the Missing Shard application.) The first section will be for if I get her as a child of one of the existing Fa'e. All is subject to change, however. Infant/Toddler: Eerily quiet. Claennis is the sort to lie back and watch the world going on around her, to soak it all in. She seems to be observing the world more than anything else, though even at a young age you can see judgment and analysis going on behind those cloudy gray eyes. Child: Still rather quiet. Claennis is incredibly naive, and comes off as very delicate. She's obviously very confused, and easily manipulated at this point. Still, she has an unnatural grace about her--when she's got a sword in her hand. She takes to learning the weapons properly and soaks up all the lessons she can that have to do with it. She also starts developing her sense of right and wrong, and her love for order, prefering to have her toys put away nicely than strewn out about the floor, etc. Somehow, despite her objections, she finds herself leading others as well. Those she plays with have a tendency to look to her for direction-- when discussing which toy they should pull out or which game they ought to play. She also tends to get the last word in on what it is, though she's always open for discussion. This next section is for if she's a Lost rather than if she's a child of one of the existing Fa'e as it's nearly impossible to tell how she might change by this stage.Teen/Youth: (in progress, SUGGESTIONS WELCOME) Character Interaction: Claennis comes off as more cool towards others. She is a good listener, and will give logical, intelligent advice...however, she has absolutely no tact. Unfortunately, because of the nature of her previous life, she is uncertain how to deal with others on a personal basis unless she has had extensive amounts of time with them. She's naturally inclined to lead, however, and is very good at accomplishing whatever task, with whatever people. She knows how to analyze what job is best and delegate as well. Claennis loves to surround herself with other, well-functioning people who are willing to listen to her. It's not that she's bossy, people just seem more inclined to look to her for direction, and she's very good at giving that direction. She also desires to create a circle of worthy, trusted friends. She's incredibly picky about who is allowed into this circle-- significantly moreso than over who she will associate generally with, as she has severe trust issues. Claennis is -good- with people, though. She knows how to motivate and inspire. She's like a shining beacon of confidence for those around her. She's the sort of leader that's there with you, doing all the work you do who never demands more of you than she expects of herself. Personal Interaction: Transferring from inanimate object with some bit of sentience into a full-blown humanlike creature with a range of emotions and senses was traumatic. It leaves her with difficulty assessing these emotions as well as insecurity at having them. Because of this, she has difficulty connecting with others. She also remembers being destroyed when she was used for evil purposes, and so believes that this will happen to her again if she is not careful. Therefore, all of her interactions are geared towards keeping an emotional distance from people so she cannot be -used- by them. The few she manages to trust eventually will have been screened extensively for evil tendencies, and found lacking. To these, she will be eternally loyal. She will do anything for those she trusts, and expects the same of them. Just as Arthur was with his Knights, they will be her 'legion' and her own sort of "Round Table". Claennis is also incredibly determined and capable. When she sets her mind to accomplish a goal, it gets accomplished. She's also incredibly book-smart. Not because she's naturally gifted with intelligence-- she isn't. However, her living situation meant that much of her time was spent reading up on various things, and being encouraged to do so, and so she kept up with it. This includes everything from poetry to physics. Way of Life: Clae's a firm believe in many things. The first would be, as Yoda put it, "Do or do not. There is no try." She is of the opinion that if someone fails at something, it is because they did not work hard enough. She works tirelessly at her goals, and very rarely fails. She will continue doggedly until she manages to accomplish whatever it is she has set out to do. This is also why she is very selective about her goals, however, making sure that it is something she wants to do to begin with. If she finds that it is not during the course of her work, she will simply stop working on it. Claennis is also a strong believer in a balance of good and evil. While she does fear evil, she believes it is necessary in the world. Fire and Water. She will not condemn evil, but she will avoid it if at all possible as far as personal connections. She has no trouble giving someone of evil alignment direction, or even associating with them, however, she will -never- perform an action requested by such a person. She is strongly spiritual as well. Her guardian made sure of this. As a priestess, and as Clae herself was raised surrounded by priests, she was instilled with a lovely sense of connection to the deities. Her beliefs mimic those of her Guardians, however, she does feel more inclined to rank the gods and goddesses in a more Christian-like fashion as her previous experience insisted. Selune is the one true deity, and the rest are more like angels, or saints. Just sort of helpers. Her Celtic cross was given to her as a symbol of this spirituality. She was attracted to the relic at a very young age, having been exposed to it by the Temple's plethora of such items brought in by the priesthood. If Claennis were to choose a profession, to go a route, she would undoubtedly become a Paladin. These are the holy warriors that fight for their deity and lead others into battle. Because she has no ability with magic to become a cleric, this is, as far as she is concerned, the next best thing. She does feel better with a sword in her hand anyhow, and so it works out.

Appearance: -- NONE OF THIS MATTERS. This is simply for fanart purposes. Honestly, she can look nothing like this and she'd still be Clae. ^^ Though, clothing is likely to stay the same. Her ultimate appearance depends on whether she is one of the Lost or if she is a child of one of the existing Fa'e. This description is based off the assumption that she is a Lost. Face:Claennis' features are very severe. All sharp angles and high cheekbones. Her nose is rather flat and wide, but the rest of her features very much resemble those of a bird. Her eyebrows are rather thick and heavy, her mouth wide. Hair: Claennis' hair, from a distance, looks rather silvery-gray. There is, however, a distinctly metallic glint to it, and upon touching it, one finds that it's much more solid than it looks at a distance. In fact, it does not move at all and is of one piece. It falls to about her chin. She has no bangs, all of her hair being approximately the same length. Eyes: Steely gray like a cloudy sky. Her eyes are angled and narrow, with incredible visual capacity. Sadly, she lacks the ability to see colours very well. Particularly bright colours stand out, but simply seem brighter shades of the grays, blacks, and whites, she sees all the world in. Body: She has a bit of meat on her bones. She's solidly built, obviously made for practicality and not for aesthetic value. Her chest is broad, but she has no bust to speak of. The rest of her is incredibly thin, particularly lower down. Her body resembles, for all intents and purposes, a humanized version of the form of a sword with her head as the pommel, her arms as the hilt sides, and her body itself tapering into a blade-like shape. Voice: A solid, confident, commanding voice. Whether she likes it or not, Claennis has the voice to -lead-. She's got the sort of tones a person likes to listen to, then obey. Costume: In her younger days, she's more inclined to wear white. Her first outfit (toddler form) would be a plain (shapeless) white shift. As a child, she would a dress, but still with no decoration or seeming style to them. As a teen, however, she would be taking it up a notch. Claennis' style most closely resembles the fairly simplistic medieval style that ladies in waiting wore. She does still prefer white (and is consistantly barefooted) but, her dresses gain shape and structure. Her youth clothing would likely be even more detailed, though not gaudy. The most important thing to remember, however, would be her celtic cross. Claennis was given this by her guardian as a sign of her own unwavering faith, and refuses to remove the thing even for a shower. She also refuses to wear shoes, ever. They are incredibly uncomfortable for her, for reasons mentioned below. Distinguishing features-- I should like to see her with 'tattoos' on her chest and her back. If I can find the celtic symbols for them, in celtic. If not, in tiny lettering. On her chest there would be "take me up" (in celtic, something like "téit fri mé") and on her back "cast me away" (something to the effect of "do·léci mé") as Excalibur was rumoured to have these words inscribed on either side of the blade. Along these same lines, her arms would be 'tattooed' with celtic knots and the like, rather similar to what one might imagine the hilt of the sword to look like, all along both of them. She also has water-lily vines that climb up her legs. Well, not climb so much as exist. These vines are not living, but more structural, tissue additions to her skin and are attached to her skin. If someone attempts to remove them, she will -bleed- just as if her skin were cut. They coil around her legs from her knees to her feet-- this would be why she goes barefoot, as few shoes are comfortable with the vines on her feet. Powers: Important! ^^Authority: Claennis weilds the powers of leadership and command. She has natural charisma and leadership ability. People -want- to follow her, to listen to her. They want her to direct them. Unfortunately for them, Claennis is used to being the symbol of the leadership, rather than the leader itself. She has -no- idea what to do with this ability, and it unnerves her more than anything else. Swords: She can use a sword. Really really well. She understands how to work one perfectly and can do so. This doesn't mean she's an unbeatable swordswoman right off the bat-- she must learn technique, etc, but she definitely has a natural gift with the weapon and balances it instinctively. Blind: Claennis, when going into battle, can create a ball of incredibly bright light. This is merely a flash, but is bright enough to temporarily blind an enemy. She can only do it once, at the beginning of the fight, and it must be a -physical- fight, not a verbal battle. Powers relation to mythos: The sword is a symbol of leadership and command. Excalibur was the ultimate symbol of this. She was somewhat aware during her time with Arthur, and it absorbed into her being. As far as swords...well, you'd think a sword ought to know her way around one. Apparently, whenever Excalibur was unsheathed, it emitted a bright, blinding light. I wanted to keep that, but I didn't want it to be too powerful or ridiculous (as technically she is now constantly unsheathed, and having her blind people by getting undressed would be a bit ridiculous) so this seemed the most logical way.

Pre-History: (This is her backstory, and may contain some hints of the future)
Excalibur was crafted by the Lady of the Lake and made of Fire and Water. This balance forged the perfect blade, which could never be broken. The sword itself was an object more precious than any other in the kingdoms of Britain. It was said that the man who held Excalibur held more power than any in the world, and that he was the only true King.
The sword was special for other reasons, however. Along with being a symbol of power and leadership, it had a certain awareness. Never sentience-- the sword could not think for itself. There was, however, a soul to the blade, and existence of its own. It could feel what was going on, and so could sense its surroundings.
The Lady of the Lake guarded it after she had created it, waiting for the true King to come for it.
A man named Arthur pulled another sword from a stone, becoming the King of Camelot in doing so. Merlin had heard of it from the Lady, and felt that the time had come. When the other sword was broken, he told the king of Excalibur. Arthur went to the lake, where the lady gifted him with the sword and the scabbard that went with it.
Many years passed. Excalibur served King Arthur well, though the scabbard's loss would lead to his ultimate demise. Though Excalibur remained as fit as the day it was forged, Arthur knew that it must disappear with himself. He ordered that it be thrown into the Lake as he lie on his dying bed.
Sir Bedivere, the Knight he had charged with this duty, betrayed his King, but Arthur knew better. Each time Bedivere claimed to throw the sword into the lake, he said that it had merely sunk into the water. Finally, Bedivere does as he was told, and the Lady reached up to receive the sword.
The Lady of the Lake then guarded the sword for quite some time. However, there were rumours that many sought out the sword, and were coming closer and closer to finding it. Because of this, the Lady cast such a spell upon it that the sword could never be used for evil purposes.
The day came, however, when the last ruler of Camelot felt that in order to become its true King, he must have the sword. He found it. For a brief time he used it well, but he became corrupt, and the moment he used Excalibur for an evil purpose, it was destroyed.
The soul of the sword, however, remained in a sort of stasis. It was quite some time later when Airi found the soul, lost and confused by it's semi-sentience, and brought it into the world of the living. Post-History: (based on the assumption she's a Lost) (in progress) She was created, however, in mistake on another planet. She appeared suddenly in the dark, misty caverns of another world. The Lady Riasa was led to her by Selune and she was adopted, just as Riasa had taken in another child years before. She was raised amongst the priesthood of Selune, and there learned of that goddess' way, as well as soaking in all the book-knowledge she could acquire. About the other world: The world that Claennis grew up in is based on the tabletop system, Dungeons and Dragons. Faerun, particularly the worlds used in the Forgotten Realms handbook, is the nature of this place. More of Claennis' personal history: Post-History: (based on the assumption that she's a child of another Fa'e) (in progress)

Guardian:
Name: High Priestess of Selune, Riasa (ree-ah-shuh) Sindallil (sin-dah-lil), Eye, Heart, and Mind of the Goddess. Age: 2000 or so Race: Moon Elf, suspected to have some celestial blood, possibly that of the Goddess herself, though nothing is confirmed. Physical Description: Face: Exotic would best describe it to an outsider. She has very high, distinctly lined cheekbones, tall pointed ears, and almond shaped eyes that tilt at an incredible angle that somehow manages to be pretty rather than just odd. Riasa's nose is long but delicate, giving her face an overall impression of elegance and nobility. Eyes: Deep green with gold flecks, as is typical of her race. They hold a sort of cold aloofness in them, as though they are not looking at you so much as assessing you, soaking in all the information you posses, possibly digging into your brain. Body: Slim and light. Riasa was designed to move quickly and efficiently and possibly to fit into very small but taller spaces. She's of about average height for human or for elf, with a weight on the low side of healthy for a human, and on the strictly average side for an elf. Her skin is an incredibly pale shade of white with just a hint of blue tinged in it. Hair: While most of her race have hair of silvery white, hers has always had a light blue tinge to replace the silver one. It is long, falling to about mid-back as Riasa is rarely expected to leave the Temple, and in fact rarely cares to. She tends to tie the front ends back into a braided crown to keep it from her eyes when she's reading..which is nearly all the time. It's soft and light, with a strange amount of curl to it considering most of her people have hair that falls straight. Clothing: Her most consistent clothing item is actually a chain tiara (the sort that fall over the back off the head, on top of the hair in chains) with a deep red teardrop shaped gem that falls on her forehead. This is -never- removed, and in fact can be found right at her bedside when she sleeps, though the gem is usually around her neck then, as she will not let it leave her possession. Other than this, she wears typical garb of the priestesses of Selune, mostly pale blues of various styles. Simplistic gowns for the majority of her days, and pale blue pants with white shirts and blue vests and cloaks for days when she finds she must travel outside of the Temple. Personality: History: Other Characters important to Clae's life as a Lost:Keth: Part Ogre and an incredible mixture of elven blood, this man is rather more like a large elf with a protruding jaw and a few larger-than-usual teeth than he is like the majority of his blood-kin, the Ogre. Keth prefers to spend his days speaking with trees and reading poetry, rather than destroying things needlessly. He's hopelessly in love with Riasa, but also hopelessly shy about telling her, and so merely follows her about and lives in the Temple praying she'll figure it out for herself. He's a gentle, kind man who serves as a father figure to Tilar and to Claennis. Tilar: Riasa's adopted son. Found trying to sell A.I.R (which, it turns out, is Acid Infused Rain, don't buy any) on the streets in a village she was exploring with a small group when trying to find her sister, Sen. She felt sorry for the little guy when he told her of the giant beast that came and killed all the children who did not fill their quota (surprisingly a true story given the mischievous nature of this child) and took him with her when they left. No one is quite sure how old Tilar is, or even what race he is, but he is quite gifted with anything that involves mischief-making. Still, he's got a good heart overall and has become better with the influence of Keth and Riasa. He is technically older than Claennis, though more often than not she is the one fetching him out of trouble. Feather: Formerly a unicorn, this woman is the picture of purity, holiness, light, and...well, frailty. Feather is a delicate, womanly figure who knows how to take care of children due to having her own little one, and helped Riasa, her former rider, quite a bit with raising Claennis. Her husband, Donovan, mostly avoided the child, as Clae had a natural lack of affection for the former Black Paladin. The Priesthood: These are the men and women who inhabit the Temple. Nearly all the priesthood of Selune are tolerant, spiritual people who are willing to give anyone a second chance who proves themselves worthy of it. Other:http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/fp_gallery/fp1/Selune_p57.jpg -- a picture of Selune herself, in all three of her forms. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, so my apologizes if it has...But The Arthurian Legend of Excalibur is the Myth for Dustin: Her Journal is Here Now, I know a Scabbard is actually the covering for the Blade itself...But there could still be some problems, since according to the story that Arrien is using, they were disposed of together [I believe, I read it quickly]
