Hmm, I wonder if this means they'll take down that Elvis statue the previous PM has set up in Shinjuku?

Also, we need a thread for the political and cultural goings on in Japan...

You failed to keep your last thread on politics alive, Koiyuki. D: I dunno, you usually seem to be unwilling to cotinue conversations after the opening post. Most of the people in this guild are probably clueless/uninterested in the topic anyway.

Haha, Abe Shinzo is like, the first Japanese PM to be born after WWII, right?

Perhaps, and part of the reason I don't discuss my own views that often, is because as a Moderator, I prefer to keep a level head about these things, and wish to see what other people think, before expressing my own thoughts on the subject.

I am of the belief everyone has a right to say what they feel, and that it should not be infringed, or made out to be a wrong train of thought. I also like to sit and observe, to learn from others, and to gain knowledge about the subject.

And I would guess most poeple aren't here to talk about Prime Ministers, and the state of their society. But as an Intellectual Pervert, I have a need to talk about these sort of things, and to learn about how other view these subjects. Something that'll probably take a while to quell. sweatdrop

Also, I like a topic to progress naturally, and prefer thought out, and substancial replies, when the subject has a serious tone. Part of being an Intellectual Pervert's Guild member, I guess. xp But nonetheless, I shall take note of this, and be sure to show my views more freely, in the future.

As would be assumed from the previous comment that he's the first PM born after WWII.

My boyfriend informed me that the PM is trying to build an army in Japan! As most of you already know, Japan cannot have an army. Is he preparing for an eventual war agaisnt North Korea?

Oh well, Koizumi lasted 5 years. I would say this PM will not stay 1 year^^

I got to meet Abe when he was still party secretary for the LDP and he seemed like a really nice dude (then again, most politicians do). But the fact is that Abe is just another LDP lacky and no better than those damn nationalists and Yakuza. I really hope that the corupt LDP gets their butts kicked in the next elections like the deserve because Japan as a one-party contry only means bad news because their is no political choice and all the choices are made by a bunch of stoogy old nationalists who just want to build an army to piss off China and Korea and bow down the "President" Bush. No wonder why young people don't vote or care about politics in Japan.

At least that clown Aso Taro (the foreign minister) or Ishihara didn't get the position. scream

Here here! Even as an American, I think the "No army for you!" post-WWII policy pushed on the Japanese is very unfair. I don't entirely understand why it was applied in the first place... but the time is ripe for a change. 3nodding

So what happened to Koizumi? Did his term just end, or did he resign...?

Well I would guess they saw how fierce and dedicated the Japanese forces were to fighting the war, and how much they were willing to give up, for the sake of the country, and I don't think they wanted to go through that again, so they basically said, "No Army to attack, only to defend"
