Konichiwa I thought i should start a thread about what probably got us all into Japanese culture. Anime and Manga. First off to get things going what is your favorit series or manga artist. Mine is InuYasha for anime and Ken Akamastsu or Rumiko Takahashi for my favorite manga artist.

though i have no insight on what foreigners view anime as, i can safely say that the people of this guild are more focused on learning japanese, and also becoming more japanese, as so the japanese will accept them.
manga and anime fetishes, are, alas, for those who will not succede properly in japanese.

While I was a complete anime geek to begin with, and while that is what caused me to want to learn Japanese in the first place, my focus is now more on the Japanese language, ad the music and culture of Japan.
I have little time for anime and manga anymore, though I still love it. crying

Yes...there's a lot of casual slang/abnormal speech/nonexistent words in anime...

So what. Doesn't mean that you can't like to watch it. And sometimes you can learn some Japanese from anime.

I view anime as entertainment rather than learning a language. I like anime/manga, but I only watch/read certain anime/manga that gain my interest.

Actually, anime and manga aren't what inspired me to start learning Japanese or get into the culture or anything like that. It was my grandfather.
x3 I started watching anime and reading manga afterward. They are only entertainment for me. I prefer manga to anime. xD
Trying to learn Japanese from them, I feel would be more damaging to my education in the language than anything else. For reading and listening practice, it is okay, but it's not a good idea. xP
