Aw, come on. He was just trying to appeal irrationally to the emotions of pro-choice gaians to protect the rights of the innocent unborn...

Because the slutty born needn't have any rights!

Pro-lifers are the most fun to talk with! One of my most enjoyable hobbies is arguing with pro-lifers and getting banned from forums. I royally pissed off the peeps at Operation Rescue... ah, so much fun.

Pro-lifers who have more to say than:

Aborshun iz murder!

Stupid Sluts deserve to be pregnant!

can be quite enjoyable to talk to. At times I've had PM conversations and some serious conversations in the main thread concerning these issues... and they were really enjoyable experiences. Unfortunately the vast majority of pro-lifers that hit and run the ED thread are one of the two above.

It took a looooooong quote tower to get to this point. I will split this up into sections of six.

So you believe in Pro-Choice?
Well the baby can't speak for itself, but if it could it would probably beg for the doctors not to murder it.

And you know this how?

Also, you fail to tell me how abortion is murder.

Because the baby is alive and if you kill it well isn't that murder?

Life = Personhood then?

All right, let's ban...

-Antibiotics
-Cleaning oneself
-Meat eating
-Plant eating
-Scratching itches
-Pesticides
-Breathing

If "killing something that is living" is murder, according to your logic, everything that breathes and has an immune system should drop dead. When you breathe, you inhale millions of bacteria, sending them to die at the hands of your own immune system.

Murder is defined by Webster's New World Dictionary as "the illegal killing of a person, especially with premeditated malice."

-Abortion is legal in most countries and in the United States, legal in 49 of 50 states.
-Most, if not all countries determine that personhood begins at birth
-There is no proof of premeditated malice

Abortion does not fit the definition of murder and as such is not murder.

I can really understand your view, but I still believe its murder.

However, why should your view be imposed on everyone?

I just like to tell people the truth and thats one way to do it.

How is your view true though? I've just shown you why it's utterly false.

Because when a mother feels her baby kick what do you call that? Non-living? I highly disagree.

Non-living? Where did I claim the fetus was not alive? Life does not come from non-life. Eggs and sperm are alive. Embryos are alive. Fetuses are alive.

However, the kicking is a reflexive action. The fetus is comatose until birth due to anasthetics secreted by the placenta, and all movement from the fetus - kicking, thumb sucking and masturbating - are reflexive.

Ok whatever, so you just believe that the baby doesn't feel it?

That's not belief, it's fact. I can give you proof if you want.

Fine proove it.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

Statement on Pain of the Fetus
We know of no legitimate scientific information that supports the statement that a fetus experiences pain early in pregnancy.
We do know that the cerebellum attains its final configuration in the seventh month and that mylenization (or covering) of the spinal cord and the brain begins between the 20th and 40th weeks of pregnancy. These, as well as other neurological developments, would have to be in place for the fetus to receive pain.
To feel pain, a fetus needs neurotransmitted hormones. In animals, these complex chemicals develop in the last third of gestation. We know of no evidence that humans are different.

http://www.forbes.com/forbeslife/health/feeds/hscout/2006/04/14/hscout532137.html

"The neural circuitry needed to process pain is complete, if not mature, by 26 weeks' gestation... "From about 26 weeks you can talk about there being a complete system in terms of biology, a link from the skin to the spinal cord to the brain, and we know that set-up is reasonably functional," Derbyshire explained...But to properly experience pain, the mind must also be developed, something which cannot happen until after birth. The mind permits the subjectivity of pain...I agree that pain is a complex sensory experience that requires activation of many regions of the cerebral cortex and that 'Without consciousness there can be nociception [response to noxious events] but there cannot be pain,'" Ralston said. "I do not know when that necessary neural circuitry is fully developed and functional, but it certainly is not established by 20 weeks gestational age, as encoded in legislation in several states in laws penalizing physicians for not informing mothers about pain in their fetuses."

And even if they had all the necessary hardware needed to feel pain, they still wouldn't, because until birth fetal mammals exist in a coma-like state.

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,17909-1491771,00.html

Professor David Mellor, the physiologist who carried out the research, believes such concerns are unwarranted and that fetuses cannot feel anything before or during birth. He will present his findings at a conference on animal sentience that is being organized by Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) in London next month.
In a paper that will be published in an academic journal, Mellor will suggest that in mammals the fetal brain is kept in a deep sleep throughout pregnancy by a combination of natural sedatives and anesthetics secreted by the brain and placenta.
"Consciousness appears for the first time after birth. We conclude the embryo and fetus cannot suffer before or during birth. Suffering can only occur in the newborn when the onset of breathing oxygenates its tissues," Mellor said.

How's that?

Your good, but I know the truth and nothing someone says will change it.

Believe what you want to believe.

Again, if you say you know the truth, then provide some evidence backing it up.

Ok, sorry if I offended you in any way............

You didn't offend me, I'm just asking you for proof for what you say is the truth. Nothing can be fact or close to it(nothing in science can be explicitly proven, only disproven) without evidence. That is something you have yet to show me.

Ok I don't have evidence!

ROFL I love when people try to back away by being nice when proved 100% wrong.

That's why I rarely visit the ED thread anymore, that and it's usually dominated by choicers anyhow.

OR was fun, one guy I was arguing debating with, started telling me that the entire population fo the earth could fit into Texas. I proved him so horribley wrong. Found out the area of Texas from official sources and showed him all my working out to prove that not everyone could fit into Texas. They coudl fit into the whole of America, if everyone only had a 2 by 2 foot square and there were no houses, shops, factories, roads.

He told me that I had resorted to maths because my arguments were weak and I couldn't prove anything. WTF? Then all my posts were deleted and my ISP banned...

Pro-lifers who have more to say than:

Aborshun iz murder!

Stupid Sluts deserve to be pregnant!

Every single time I have spoken to a pro-lifer who has more to say than these two things, I had them admitting within minutes that, while they had every right to hold their opinion on the matter, they had no right to force it on others and ask for abortions to be made illegal.

No one with half a brain ever stays pro-life very long after being exposed to a rational pro-choicer.

Not true. Most of them do end up Pro-Life personal Pro-Choice political eventually though. Which might be what you meant?

I have to say that I (often) have fun talking to Pro-Lifers. I both love debating and love learning about the viewpoints of people who believe differently than I do.

I am talking about the political. So yes, that's what I meant.

I don't. Like I said, the pro-lifers with half a brain almost always become pro-choice after a couple minutes of talking to me. So the only pro-lifers left whom I speak with are the annoying "ZOMG! Iz murder n all women who get them r sluts n whores!" type of people. I may have enjoyed hearing these arguments a couple times for the reasons you mentioned, but that went away real fast.
