Welcome to Gaia! ::

I know this really has nothing to do with this guild, but in a way, it does. Just bare with me for a bit.

When I first joined gaia, I was directed to the Catterbox and the Welcome to Gaia forums by my friend who had helped me sign up. I instantly found those two places revolting and swore I would not enter them again. At this time, we still had the go-aia layout (if any of you were here long enough to see that, then you know how wonderous it was). So I decided to just look around gaia. After many painstaking years (20 minutes) of wandering around looking at everything, (the personals especially scared me), I stumbled upon Extended Discussion. It was an amazing place, full of wonderous people, discussing wonderous things at high levels of intelligence, and flaming those who could not hold their own in there.

As time went on, the guild system (taco database), was released. I was happy as could be. Private forums for whatever we wished! It was a godsend. I immediately joined several guilds for discussion, joined a couple that were threads (Gaia Gay Boys Bar and the Naughty Boys Guild), and help found another that was a private guild for a group of people and their friends (this guild eventually failed when we all went our seperate ways).

Due to the guild system being holding all that I would need, I slowly but surely quit visiting the forums. I would visit them still, but less and less often.

Well, it's been three months, and none of the guilds I'm in have had any new posts since I last checked them, so I said "What the hell, I'll visit ED." When I clicked on the ED icon, and then scrolled down, I nearly had a heart attack. I could not beleive the topics in there. It seemed as if the ED had become a place of trolling and stupidity.

After a few hours of shock (a minute or two), I decided to look at the other sub-forums. They were not much better. The politics consisted of nothing but repeat threads that were there the last time I had looked upon it, Science contained a bunch of sci-fi material, Morality and Religion was full of christian related content and a few other smut materials, and Psychology and Socialogy, well, lets not even go there.

This made me think. We're supposed to be reaching a point in time where our (the human race as a whole) level of thinking is the highest it's ever been. Where we are making the most advances and so much more. If that is the case, then why is it that everywhere I look, I see something stupid. I cannot watch a documentary on TV without being bombarded by comercials, I cannot read the news paper without seeing (no offense by this, it is not a racist comment) something about an illegal mexican who jumped the boarder and why, someone who killed their wife/family, or something else. I go online, and I find people who are not much better. I go into a room to talk with friends, and I get bombarded with faghags or fan girls saying "OMG! UR GAY? I LVOE YOU! HAV MY CHILD PLS?" (that is a direct quote from one).

~nods~ Although I agree with the statement that no one individual is smarter or stupider than another, (I look at things the same way) that rant was not aimed at individual people, but the human population as a whole.

I high school I always had the mentality that I was very smart or everyone else was just very stupid.

Food for though; a majority of serial killers all have genius level IQs.

You should be afraid of them anyway. But hey, those guys probably figured out, "hey, it's not best to have people around, and self perservation instincts be damned!" *shank*

I think everybody else has said it all, but, about that Mensa comment, If you fear Mesna, FEAR ME! Lol. And yes, I do think Blue deserves a cookie. But, as a twist, it shall be a... burnt cookie! MWAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh, btw, sorry about this being such a joke post... sweatdrop

I think other people's intelligence is just a matter of perspective, and it depends on your background. For example, I get annoyed when people spell words wrong that in my opinion are quite easy. But these people who i got annoyed at really didn't like reading because they had other things to do with their time. I, on the other hand, love reading. Perhaps I have somehow increased my intelligence by reading like crazy?

We seem to be falling backwards because the intelligent try to act stupid and "blend in," ending in a large concentration of geniuses who look like retards.

i say ppl are getting stupider because there is no challange....the war in iraq only few are in the war currently..we evolved originally because there was a real danger and threat....stones to make spears to kill big mammoths....fire to cook it , language to get information , crops to eat ....then so on and so forth....now there is little problems in the general public and people now remind me of Wierd Al's 'Dare to be Stupid' song..because they think its cool....in countries where brains are worshipped and really hard to get such as in china/japan....here in america we get free education wasted on people who forget it almost as soon as school ends and then only can use calculators to do basic math....i see a grime/filth/contagion sweeping the world and creating the dark times predicted to come for a long time now....this is all i have to say besides that is... im Mormon (member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints{we practice monogamy not polygamy})..
