So recently, I've found that many people have a... Dislike for the art form known as jazz. I heard alot of poor excuses for why no one likes it. Tell me, is it true? What are your opinions? And I promise you that I'll find you one song you'll like.
And please, don't just come on is and go, "Jazz sux, lol!!!11"
And if you've never heard jazz, or real jazz, go to www.pandora.com and ask for some Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Joshua Redman, etc...

Lots of people are just unappreciative of it. I know I was just last year when I'd hear my mom playing it in the car & tell her to change the radio station. Now I really have gotten into jazz & I love how relaxing it can be, & I like how much of it doesn't have lyrics. Lyrics can get distracting although I do love well written lyrics.

It just doesn't appeal to me.. sounds like a lot of noise. (I imagine that's what old folks used to say about it when it was new and teenagers were dancing to it mrgreen ) I just can't tolerate screaming saxophones with jazz piano. Not my taste.

Some of the forms of it you have to know the theory behind it. I appreciated it a heck of a lot more when I began playing with a combo. When it comes to listening, I would recommend to stick to the popular names doing standards. Great stuff.

It's okay I guess. I just don't like today's jazz. It gets so irritating.

I find most jazz to be quite enjoyable for its relaxed and very simplictic sound.
I guess some people dn't appriciate that though. Whatever works for them (Eventhough they ARE missing out)

Don't hate jazz, don't like jazz. I guess it's just cuz I haven't been exposed to much of it.

I love jazz, and I think, no, I KNOW that if it weren't for jazz, a lot of the music we listin to now ouldn't exist. Jazz set up tons of background for many genres of music, especially rock. So, all you haters out there, just think about how music would be different without that good old-fasioned jazz! Remember, "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!" mrgreen

there is a jazz guild....
and jazz is most likely an influence of whatever msuic you are into. jazz has so many sub genres like swing, bebop, latin and fusion. however, peoples opinions on it differ, i cant get enough but my mum really dislikes it.
