Jagged Cliffs

Shade Occupied

Huh, what? I have to write something for here?

Seriously, what on earth are you doing here? Other than a few paths you can barely shimmy across, the decor of this area entirely consists of pointy rocks. If you take one misstep you'll either be impaled or fall to your death. A death that will more than likely involve being impaled.

Now get out of here.

Amendy!

Now, even furthur from that, a small area of these Jagged Cliffs has been cleared and made into a nasty NASTY fort, since the Shades home ground is nearby, people passing through can expect confrontation on a massive scale, as troops frequently patrol the area, as well as add on to the fortifications.

The dam may have blocked water, this place blocks people.

Enter at own risk.

Daniel flashed the sign for silence, as they came into the thick of the cliffs. Sound was important, not to loosen the rocks. Not to tip off the enemy. To be able to hear the shifting of stones that would come with an enemy approach.

It was a slow trek, making his way through the rocks. Extra time was spent, not only looking for safe paths, but on the watch for stonework traps. It might have been centuries old, left behind from previous wars or worse, but he knew better than to trust rockslide ground like this.

Daniel braved a look back at this troops, the three shades. They were stretched out in a long line amid the rocks, pocking around slowly, stepping only where he stepped. The best one could do...

His eyes looked up to the sky, wishing he had Flare to patrol them. As it stood, they were pretty much sitting ducks for any mage or artillery that decided to pound the cliffs.

Shaking his head, he kept his eyes locked on the point ahead. A strange formation. It seemed, promising. Something that might hide an enemy patrol. Or maybe a good ambush point.

It was worth exploring anyway. He never liked to defend a point he didn't know every inch of.

Daniel put his fist up, calling for a full stop as they marched into the cliffs, taking cover among the large, hard stones. Daniel was doing well, heart rate up, but not very tired. At least, not yet. All this walking had put him in good shape.

"Al, Ben, get to work clearing out a small area here. We can watch the path to both the camp, and the temple here."

"And Con, get back with the Shades. See if we can get someone here at least..." he sounded just a little ticked. He would have liked to have at least a few people back at that temple to hold it against any curious people. Not to mention it was always good to have a fall back point.

"Good job Al, Ben," Daniel watched as they moved broken rocks carefully, compacted others. It was all slow, hard work, as they worried about the stability of the cliff face.

It took a while, with Daniel pitching in as well, to clear out about a 10 foot by 20 foot area, with a few large, man sized boulders.

It wouldn't be the most comfortable place, but the boulders could be used as cover, and there was space for a a small ambush force.

"Call them in Con..." he muttered. Was this even going to work this time? Eh, who knew...

"Come on... I know it's hard... but just a little more," Daniel said, taking Al and Ben down the small 'trail' he had hiked through the original time. They were moving rocks about, shoring up the path, making it a small, but stable foot trail. Very slow, very hard work. Made slower and harder by the fact he was taking extra time and effort to do it correctly.

"Now lets widen this out a bit... leave the big rocks, and level off the path," Daniel commanded. They had a small, about 1 foot trail going from the Rough Trail, to the base camp in the Jagged cliffs now. All hard, hand labor. Dnaiel's hands were aching, threatening to crack and bleed. He was hardly made for rock moving.

Taking a break, he inched past Al and Ben, back towards Con. There he collapsed, resting against one of the large, firmly planted stones, breathing heavily and gently massaging his hands.

"Us Fleshy creatures ain't ment for that kinda work..." he told Con, shaking his head. Not that Con said anythign back. It seemed like he picked the very silent, stoic population of the Shades.

They came from the pathway, the scouts headed upwards had found Daniel and had heard his last request, quickly, half started the process of moving things around, stones mostly into the shape of walls and buildings, while the other half made they're way back to the village to gather some of the heavy lifters.

"Nice to see you all..." Daniel spoke softly, seeing the relief coming in. His breath was coming back to him. His hands were still sore, but they would be fine in a while. He gave the shades a weak smile, gathering up his small crew.

"Five minute break, then we're moving out."

A shade suddenly split off and brought something over to Daniel and his group.

"Compliments of Miss Seyumi, sir...Omikron mentioned to us to keep some of the stores on us for when we meet up with groups from our faction."

One of the sachels was placed down in front of Dan, it was filled with food and water.

Huh. Seyumi... she might have made a good logistics officer and quartermaster, if things were different.

Daniel accepted it with a nod, "Give her my thanks, if you see her. And, keep up the good work. You better be alive when all this is over, you hear me?"

He slung the satchel over his shoulder, nice, and safe, and in a good position so he could eat from it on the run. With a nice, secure pat he stood.

"Al, Ben, Con. Form up on me, and get ready to move out!"

The shade nodded and went back to establishing the well cleared defensive site, once it was completed, it would be formidable indeed, jagged spurs of rock comming out of more pointy wall ready to impale anyone willing to brave the outter rim of the area.

With his troops rested, gathered, and a bit more food and water for the road ahead, things were looking pretty good from the man's perspective. He made his way across the uncleared ground, to the narrow passageway. Might as well see what was at the bottom, after all.

The shades again were marked out in a stretched out marching column, as they made their way back to solid land.

The crews were still working hard, bolstered by the ones from the village, when they got the message for supplies.

Quickly and efficiently they gathered up what was needed and started shipping them down to the valley by rook power, all in all 5 rooks and 10 pawns made their slow way to Dan in the valley

Ten pawns lay in wait around the jagged cliffs. Hiden and ready to sneak attack anyone who either passed through here, or get behind anyone who climbed up to the bleached overlook.

Five had bows, two crossbows, and three melee weapons.
