eek Ok, I need to choose soon wether to play baritone or percussion. We need both badly, because all the seniors left this year...there will not be a baritone if I don't play it, but there won't be enough bass drummers if I don't play. crying my head hurts.

Well, what one do you like the best? You should ask your BD.

Do whichever one you prefer. Both sections need you badly, so it's not a question of which one needs you more. So go with the one you like best. You'd be more useful if you were happy and playing what you wanted rather than just playing what they need you to play.

Well....This is a bit of a predicament...There wom't be any baritones if you don't play, right? I'd say it's better so have someone in a section rather than none at all. Bass drums are pretty loud [at least ours are]. Here's what I say. If the music calls for a baritone and it just wouldn't sound right without one, go with playin' baritone. If a baritone isn't totally needed, go with percussion. Hope I've been some help.

I think it'd be better to fill out the orchestration. The music won't sound right if there is no baritone part. Plus, Baritone is rawk-awesome, so.

I would say go with the one you enjoy more. The bass drummers can compensate by playing louder, but if there is a missing part, that's never good.
I made the wrong choice for my band, I told them I would play oboe this year because our player graduated and they absolutely need one for a song that we play every year. But, I started practicing on flute and got so much better and decided not to even try oboe. So, ya, I'd have to say go with which ever one you like more.

I say go for the baritone. It's better to have only one person in a section then have not enough people in another section. I mean baritone is important even though alot don't think it. baritone is a wonderful instrument. and i'm not saying this because i play the instrument cause i don't play it i play clarinet
