That would be twisted. Then I think he would have been more powerful because he would be haunted by the fact that his older brother killed everyone. Gaara vs. Itachi.....who would win? That's a pretty hard decision.

I don't know neutral seems too overcharged for me.... or rather he doesn't need them. The Genjutsu aspect of the Sharingan would be good, but the side-effects are not that wonderful that I'd want Gaara to have them. The ability to see through all techniques doesn't seem necessary, seeing as he has the ultimate defense. and ...I forgot the third aspect... :XP: but I don't think he'd need them, plus Gaara isn't half as sexy/good-looking with red eyes Dx

Hmm...I think that that'd be kind of an overkill for his character. He's already got the sand to protect him...and anyways
he becomes Kazekage, so he's strong enough.

! And if he were an Uchiha.... he wouldn't have Shukaku and wouldn't have the insomnia problem, or the 'ai' symbol, or the angst that just makes him..... GAARA!!!
