おんせん [Onsen]
Onsen (おんせん) are one of the most common places you'll see people relax in anime. It is also likely one of the most common places you'll see in hentai (へんたい).

Onsen, by definition, are open water springs. Natural or artificial, these places tend to be quite large, relaxing, and especially atatakai (あたたかい), or, pleasantly warm. It is also cleansing, obviously. Some people in Japan take the onsen very seriously, others go there daily with friends.
Typically in America nudity is frowned upon, but in Japan, it is not gay or obsien to be naked with your friends. In fact, it's everyday expirienced/. An onsen for them is well... a pizza parlor for us. Not really, but it's far more casual over there than it is over here.
Not all onsen are baths. In fact, some you must be very clean before entering. Being soapy or dirty could disturb all the other participants and is sometimes considered widely offensive. On TV and such, you see people in bathing suits in an onsen, but this in reality is strictly forbidden. You do in naked, or not at all. Onsen are actually quite respected and have a sort of ritual to using them; sort of, "cleansing" one's body and mind. One must enter totally naked, towels are forbidden to touch the water because they typically carry filth.

Week 1: かぶとむし

yay! this is a good idea. a word of the week. and you put it in Kanji and stuff and explain what they do and stuff. idk.

I figured that since I come across new words sometimes daily, that other people could learn from this as well.
Only reason it's not the daily word is because: I'm not on everyday and not everyone on here is on everday.
Don't want them to miss words! XD

@ FireKitsune25: Very good idea. Unfortunately... I don't know this week's word in Kanji. However, when I do, I will definately provide it...
I was thinking teaching some Kanji would be fun... For instance.

寡 (Ka) Widow
慾 (Yoku) Greeding passion; desire.

How to remember shape
See how 寡 (Ka) almost looks like a woman in a dress? Her hat is worn at the funeral of her husband. Her low hands represent her sadness.
慾 (Yoku) contains 3 symbols within it meaning... (etc etc. I don't know this one. That's why it's an example.) It shows how the person is really desperate for what they want... blah blah.

かよく (Kayoku) means to be wanting very little. The Widow has given up in life and Yoku tells us what she wants.

Usage of Yoku
しょくよく (shokuyoku) - Hungry; wants food.
あいよく (aiyoku) - passion, love, lust; wants love.
どうよく (douyoku) - (adj) greed, avarice, heartlessness; wanting power.
