I watched star-wars the other day and thaught "hey, that's like super-psi" and then thaught "hey, I'm gonna make a thread about it, titles "Psi-Fi!" and so I did...
well, ever notice most of the shows like that they pretty much immitate psi and it has limits too... for instance how the jedi have to practice a LOT to use the FORCE just like real life... and the medi-chlorian thingies... pretty much.. everyone in reality is a jedi, or, every jedi is really based on real people... pretty much umm
Everyone can use the force, just.. some people are specefically attuned to the force and can use it a bit better than the rest, and when you die you become part of the force...
Psi-Fi goodness...
I don't know if this made any sense, and I don't know if I should've posted this... I am sure the only thing most of anyone who read this got from my small speech was "wow... lobo is a star-wars geek... I never knew" and I may be into star wars but I am not a total nerd with it confused

Hah! Everyone is a Star Wars geek. The cool ones are the ones that can admit it. And as a matter of fact, I was thinking about this just today, about how alot of force powers seem like telekinesis, Force lightning, electrokinesis, ect. Plus being a jedi would just be sweet.

I saw somewhere there there is actually a religion based on being a Jedi in the real world. Vatican recognized, I think.

The_Lonely_Bunch I've only watched one Star Wars film. I had no idea there was a religion based on it. xd "the force" was based off of buddhism training, so its more that star wars was based of a religion

I have thought a lot about this. I don't exactly remember the name of the game/movie but there is one that is really similiar to psionics.
I have also noticed that many games and movies borrow what many people consider fiction and use exactly what we believe in a fictional sense.

The Vampire Jonathan I saw somewhere there there is actually a religion based on being a Jedi in the real world. Vatican recognized, I think. Yeah, there is definately a religion based around jediism. One of their books is titled "Christian wisdom of the Jedi masters." I haven't read much of it, just a few pages, but it seemed like an amuzing read from the way the introduction ran.... I also heard somewhere that the Jedi were based on George Lucas's own personal spirituality, so it makes perfect sense that if this is the case then there would be influences of real life things like psionics.

Movies and video games always amaze me when they gather and swirl different ideas like these. Just about every slightly occult themed video game my bf gets has something that I will point to and say "Hey, that's kind of like this Buddhist/Hindu/etc idea..." Once he links it to one of its original sources it become easier to understand and apply in game. Funny.

When my friend's mom went to China, I had her pick up a bootleg copy of Episode III. I had heard about it from some website. While the movie is in English, the subtitles had been translated from English to Chinese, then back to English. According to the subtitles, the Jedi are the Presbyterian Church. I wish I could find that website...Ah, I found the blog that I originally saw, complete with pictures and everything. http://winterson.com/2005/06/episode-iii-backstroke-of-west.htmlBy the way, I have nothing to contribute to this thread other than humor. And poison ivy.
