A battle by wordspell... it was still a mystery to him, as it was to many who had been thrown into it. In a world where choice words effect you far more than physical actions, a world where your voice is your weapon, a place where nothing is the same. Words hurt, as he knew firsthand, but he was still reluctant to learn, until he met his match.
Matsuri, a name he had given himself, or Matt as some people called him. His looks were his best asset, lengthy black hair, dark hazel eyes and soft skin. He was a heartbreaker, a college student who lived, amazingly, by himself on campus and spent a lot of time in the coffee shops. He adored art, and spent his occasional free time burried in manga, a stick of strawberry pocky hanging loosly from his lips. He was an all around admired male, even his ears and tail were silky soft, pure black as was his hair, and if he felt like it, he could tuck them close to his head and scare off the girls who wanted him so badly.
It was a rarity to see someone his age still retained his ears, and people made it a point to say so, usually pulling on them and all around annoying the poor guy. But now he sat, perched on his stool at the corner of the coffee bar, reading the newest issue or Gravitation, his ears twirching with intreague as he skimmed over less than appropriate pictures of the young males.

There was another, a lesser known but still lusted after boy. His hair was blonde, lightened by the sun he no doubtably loved as his skin was a rich tan. His eyes were an odd aqua color, and he seemed to be of greek decent. Actully, he looked a lot like a greek statue, poised and all around a beautiful thing to behold. Despite his amazing looks, no one dared talk to him, and so he sat alone at his corner booth, sipping a milk tea that the owner of the bar was so gracious to buy him, his delicate ears flicking here and there with the noises of the bar. His tail was rather long and curled around behind him, draping over his leg as he looked around.
He had arrived in Japan not two months ago, dropped off by himself and seemingly on his own. He didn't go to school, or show his face in many places at all, though he spent a lot of time in the coffee bars and at the beach. He didn't have a name, at least not one that anyone knew of, but they didn't mind.
His eyes absently gazed at Mitsuri, and at the odd manga he was intently reading through. He knew what it was, and all around decided to ignore it at the moment, drinking what remained of his tea and staring out the window at the people in the streets.

At another table in the small cozy coffee shop, was yet another young male, though this one preffered to take in his caffene frozen. He had longish black hair that fell messily and yet stylishly around his eyes and face. His eyes stood out, the outer rims being a dark purple, then rapidly fading into a bright pink at the center. They were reveled by young teens, pink and purple having become so popular with the rising 'punk' and 'skater' styles. He too had his ears and tail, and wore them quite proudly, his left neko-ear had two small silver rings peircing it. The weird thing about his tail and ears though were that the fur was long and white, giving them an oddly whispy look. He sat reading his latest purchased book of DN Angel, the end of his tail alway curling and uncurling uncounciously, he was completely enveloped in it, save for when he occasionally sipped at his drink. He too was an often sought-after boy, because his pink/purple eyes and wispy tail didn't make him look girly as would be expected, but rather made him look intense, his features all contrasting one another.

Matsuri glanced over to the other tables, biting his bottom lip absently as he looked over all the people there, finding only two mildly interesting. And that would be the greek blonde, and the odd male with wite ears, and, being as bored and lonely as he was, decided to spark a conversation with them both, having both the males being seperated by one table.
His long coat slid off the stool as he stood, draping nearly to the floor as he walked over to the one table seperating the two. Another interesting thing about Matsuri was his odd drees, today he donned a black caot, one that swept over most of his lanky body, covering his arms and his backside entirly, though his chest, covered as it was by black tank top offset only by the silver collar he decidedly wore for show. His pants were another thing, old and tattered by age and all the crazy things he had done while wearing them. Each hole told a story, be it off a rather stupid stunt, or a near fangirl-death escape, they were all there.
Pulling off the coat, he draped it over the back of his chair, sitting down next to the dark haired male, his hands tucked under his chin as he propped it up, raised from the table by his elbows. "What, may I ask, are you reading?"
At that time, the blone had caught sight of the hearbreaker male and started to blush with intensity. His eyes locked on the boys neko ears which were twitching slightly, brushing his hair about.
It wasn't that he liked him, it was more or less that he was a bit jealous that he could just walk up to someone and catch everyone's attention. He secretly wished to talk to someone, but wasn't really able to on his own.

His ears immediately flattened against his head, assuming from experience it was another fangirl, here to bother him and probably try and seduce him. But when he looked up he found a rather unexpected surprise. This was a guy. His ears suddenly perked. Not an unpleasant surprize, just unexpected. He grinned sheepishly for his earlier reaction. "um... DN Angel... its a manga."

He grinned at his reation, letting his tail drag past the chair. His eyes seemed to brighten at the thought of another manga fan. "Ah... interesting. So you like this one? I've never read DNAngel... but I've heard good things."
All the girls in the shop suddenly began to growl angrilly, some getting up to leave, but most continuing their idle chatter of uselss conversations. Matsuri wasn't one to fall for girls, but was known more for his interest in cute guys, usually ones that weren't interested in him at all.
However, being who he was, he didn't care in the slightest, and tugged lightly on the sleeve of one of the waiters ordering another vanilla milk tea to replace the one that was drained moents earlier.

He laughed lightly at how bluntly he acted. "I haven't read many mangas, but of the few I have, this is one of my favorites," his ear flicked in interest, "you read manga too?"

Matsuri's ears perked as well as he placed a few volumes of Gravitation down on the table, pulling them from seemingly nowhere, blatently showing the covers covered with Yaoi like situations. "A few..." he smirked, leaning in close to the boy, winking as he spoke. "I like my yaoi... it puts me in a good mood ya know?"
Matsuri, unfortunatly, was in one of those toying moods, bending people to his will as usual, or trying his damndest to get a rise out of him. He finally leaned back into his chair as he saw the many girls in the place blush brightly, a few of them getting nosebleeds. "What did I do?"

He tilted his head and caught sight of the yoai-ish pictures covering the manga's fronts. "Oh.. " he suddenly looked up and many girls about the room were suddenly giggling madly, and a few even covering their noses. "I.. don't know." he was just as confused, and kind of creeped out, "they keep doing things in sync like that.. its creepy." The waiter returned, putting the tea on the table and looking to Riku and smiling. He had a great smile. "You want anything?" he asked pleasantly. Riku smiled in return, "no thanks." The waiter winked before walking away, "well if you change your mind, you know where to find me. " he called, going behind the counter and began preparing more drinks. There was another, much calmer wave of giggles. He looked around wildly again.
((lmao, crazy fangirls.. I swear, they've got cameras everywhere))

He smiled at the waiter, his tail wagging happily behind him as he pushed his hands up under his chin. He wa begining to become rather fond of the different looking boy. He had a certain charm that caught Matsuri, entranced him really, so he sat the smiling, thinking up something for them to do. Maybe a movie and dinner, or a walk, something small, but interesting none the less.
"So... you have a name or do I refer to you as adorable?"

His fair skin suddenly lit up in his cheeks, "Uuuh... I.. I'm not..." finally he gave up the sentence altogether, and tried again, this time a new sentence. "My names Riku, you?" Just then a melody began to play, from his jeans. Immediately his hand had slipped into the pocket and he observed the caller's name on the cell-phone. "I'm sorry, I have to answer this."
"Hello?.... Yeah.... What? Why?...... Right now??..... You know how I am about my days off.... Fine, but just this once.... okay... bye."
He looked back up at him, his apology even showing in his eyes, "I am really sorry. That was my job, they need me to come in right now, turns out the deadline has been shortened." He bit his lower lip, hoping he wouldn't be upset.... it was rather rude, and he knew it, but it was one of those things that couldn't be helped.

Anyone would have expected him to be angry by a call in his conversation, but he just smiled and nodded, giving him a polite little shoo. "Go on now, wouldn't want you in any trouble."
He didn't know why, but he had an eerie feeling that he would be seeing him soon for one reason or another.

He continued sitting, still biting his lip, apparently thinking about something. He said it was okay, so why am I still worried about it? ...What if I never see him again?....... Why do I care?! He sighed, then an idea struck him, and he looked back up, his eyes alot brighter. "Hey.. you could.. I mean.. you could come with me if you want." he wasn't exactly sure how to ask it.

Matsuri nodded, tossing his coat over his shoulder, taking his books and the tea from the table as he stood and held out his free hand for the boy to take. He felt rather gentlemanly about it and made a point to bow slightly. "It would be my pleasure to escourt you, my dearest Riku..."
He was joking around a bit. In public he could seem to be more or less of an a**, but get him to yourself and he's really a sweet and gentle guy, shame no one knew about the real him and only got to know the 'devil may care' attitude of his that he was so wrongly judged on.
