I think speaking Lolita is speaking in an older fashion and using proper grammar.
I speak in a more proper way a lot, although when I'm not it's far from it. I say "'tis" all the time, and even correct people on their grammar.
Does anyone else speak in this way, or similar?

For the longest time I used words like "tis" and "thou" and such, but then my classmates got confused and started making fun of me even more, so I slowly stopped using them... I think I should start up again...

I never have used 'tis' and 'thou' I just speak politely, slow, and clear. I know I'm gonna get killed for this but I think 'tis' and stuff is sorta silly, it reminds me on Ren fairs.

Dressing more lolita doesn't affect me at all besides mabye watching my posture more. My writing is definately a different style an more or so old english like, but nothing else is different. I think this would fit in with one of the older topics though.

I agree that "tis" sounds basically rediculous. I just do like Icesinger and speak more politely.

er.. i guess i talk like a normal teenager. the only thing is im from the north so i use some northern slang. not really slang but words that mean other things. like if someone says "omg guess what just happened" i will reply "spit" (tell me) as in the way of insults im more traditional, c**t, assclown, simpleton. what used to be said in the good old 90's. ahhhh the 90's... heart i also have some what of a deep and comanding voice (if i need apply it in that way) i can change my voice if i please though. oh i also use alot of words that make people confused, or words that arent normally applied in the situation.

I wasn't aware that there was a certain style of speaking for a lolita...>_> I use big words alot and people freak out. Its funny, now I do it on purpose. It isn't at all because of how I dress though. I do like to talk with a British accent now and again, but thats only because I love that accent and I like to practice it for when I move there. ^^ Lolita doesn't affect how I talk, no matter how you dress you should always speak poliety, but that doesn't mean you can cuss now and again. People laugh at me when I cuss. sweatdrop They say I sound like a little kid and its cute.

I'm slowly cutting the habbit of using slang and I'm always using stupid words whenever I want to curse. Like "Shiz" or "Biz" and I'm trying to stop now. ee;

Well, I do tend to speak and write more politely ever since Lolita, and use stronger words as well. Does that count? I use the word "Tis" very often, and always have even before Lolita. I only slip into that style of speaking sometimes, because people might not understand what I may be saying and I once I had someone comment on why I am using more complex words, in which the words were not very complex at all.

Heartless_Nanashi I do like to talk with a British accent now and again, but thats only because I love that accent and I like to practice it for when I move there. ^^ sweatdrop -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm English, and I don't have a regional accent really (Queen's English and all that). I hate swearing and don't do it, ever, and I've always spoken quite politely anyway. So I really haven't made any changes to my speech. But I'm trying to avoid saying Americanisms, because I REALLY HATE THEM. [Read below for my rant].It's fine if you *are* American, but I have to put up with everybody all the time saying, 'Oh that's so totally like awesome!' Or, 'That is like *so* lame.' evil scream I suppose you could say it's my pet hate in English people. It's like the fangirls who always write things like this in their fanfiction: '...and Yuniko said, 'That's so kawaii! I suki kawaii neko... Wai, wai!.'
Anyway, I would never say things like 'thou' or 'tis'. It seems like you're trying too hard, the same as using the pronoun 'one' instead of 'you,' or using really long words all the time. Personally I think just speaking politely is enough.

I just watch my mouth. This is a very hard task in our color Guard. Sad to say because most of them are high schoolers and tend act 'more mature' than me. Hah, like making us do 100 drop spins against a wall when we should be working on our horizontals. HAH! I don't use old English, probably because I just forget. I just limit my swearing and act polite.

Cussing is a rare occasion for me and I shall never stop using 'old english' words every now and then in my speech. Frankly I consider it one of my better traits.
