Card Information
The Wheel of Fortune is the 10th of 22 Major Arcana tarot cards.
Wikipedia Changes in station. Rich become poor, poor become rich. Sudden reversal of fortune. Strong Buddhist associations with the Karmic cycle.
Mythopoetic Approach
The Wheel of Fortune is the intersession of random chance on The Fool's journey through the Major Arcana. It represents the forces that can disrupt, destroy, or bless the Querant.
It also represents the underlying order that the Magician attempts to master. The letters on the wheel have been read to mean "Rota Taro Orat Tora Ator," which can be translated (if you don't mind syncretic translations) to: "The Wheel of Taro[t] speaks the Law of Ator [Hathor, or Love]." The tension between the two basic meanings (chance and structure) can be useful to explore with the Querant.
Through its cross sum (the sum of the digits), it is closely connected to The Magician, Key 1 and The Sun, Key 19. Each represents a rupture with the previous order; the Magician starting the journey; The Wheel of Fortune introducing random chance; The Sun reborn from the underworld.
When it appears in a tarot throw, it typically signals the insertion of a random forces, the start of something new, or a need to understand the underlying structures. It may carry a warning that The Querant needs to accept the gift or curse that's coming and learn from it.
To the right is Anubis (Good) ascending and to the left is Typhon (Evil) descending.
Psychic Guild The focus of this card is on conflicts of interest, unexpected developments, important news that changes or alters your course, also important news and information.
Edivination The Wheel of Fortune (La Roue de Fortune); The Lord of the Forces of Life; Positive interpretations of this tarot card: destiny, movement, vision, good luck, new cycle, synchronicity; Negative interpretations of this tarot card: obstacles, temporary bad luck, unpleasant surprises
All the ups and downs of Me are within the wheel of fortune. The subject will feel that life is like a seesaw. Every mood will have a high and low; there is no chance to live on a placid plateau of emotion. It is the sum total of personal experience. The subject will lead a varied life with alternate "feasts and famines." Occultism sees the Wheel of Fortune card as concerned with the law of cause and effect, which we call karma.
Intuitive Tarot Dignified: The Wheel of Fortune represents chance, fate, and inevitability. It represents the ups and downs of life but more importantly it represents that there is a time for everything. Usually the Wheel of Fortune can be divided into four parts representing the four seasons of the natural universe. Spring, a time for new beginnings; Summer, a time for growth and bloom; Autumn, a time for reflection and maturation; and Winter, a time for rest and releasing. When a new endeavor is started the wheel begins anew and one can be assured they will go through all of the aspects the wheel has to offer. The Wheel offers everyone success and eventual release, but it is the acceptance of change the wheel offers that most find hard to accept. While the wheel always offers us another chance to make things right there comes a time when one must let go. While outwardly the wheel offers chance or even luck, it also offers faith in that it guarantees that things will eventually change for the better.
Ill-Dignified: In a reversed position the Wheel of Fortune represents a refusal to change, loss of hope, or dwelling on the negative aspects of a situation. The Wheel reversed suggests frustration, the act of being stubborn, or holding on too tightly to the material world around us.

Goddess Information
Verdandi is one of the three Norns, who are together: Urd, Norse goddess of the Past, Verdandi, Norse goddess of the Present, and Skuld, Norse goddess of the Future. Verdandi is also known as Verthandi or Verdande.
Wikipedia In Norse mythology, Verdandi (ON: Verðandi) is one of the three norns, along with Urd and Skuld. Her name literally is the present tense of be or "to be" and is commonly translated as "in the making" or "that which is happening/becoming". She is the present moment. As one of the Norns she is a guardian of the World tree, watering it from the sacrid well and keeping the deer of the four directions from chewing the branches, as well as a component of man's destiny.
There is some arguement over where Verdandi is the youngest or second youngest of the fates. In either case she is typically pictured as beautiful and full of life. She is sometimes seen as a bit matronly.
Lulea University, Sweden Oftentimes the nornor are named as evil, cruel, fiendish and vile. The original meaning of the word "norna" is a matter of great dispute. In their fate-settling context it has been connected to the Swedish dialect word "norna" (nyrna), a verb that means "inform secretly". Another etymology ties the word to an Indo-European rooot "ner" which means "twist" or "twine". Behind this meaning of the word the conception about the thread of destiny, which the nornor twist and twine. In the cosmic visions in VoluspĂ the nornor appears as universal powers. Their abode is next to the spring at the foot of Yggdrasil. There are three of them, and their names are Urd, Skuld and Verdandi.Their power is great: they decide the destiny of all humans and the laws of cosmos.
WilliamXP's MSN Space These maidens are sometimes considered giants, but are usually depicted as three goddesses. They were said to visit each being, god or human, immediately after birth, to determine his or her future. While sometimes there are said to be many Norns, there are usually three mentioned, named, Urd (Fate) Skuld (Being) and Verdandi (Necessity). They are associated with the Well of Fate.
Thalia Took Yggdrasil is the World-tree of Norse mythos, representing the Axis Mundi (axis of the world) or Divine Center, and the Tree stretches from the Underworld to the Heavens, connecting all the Nine Worlds. Though an ash, Yggdrasil is evergreen, symbolizing its strength and changelessness, and the ash's habit of dropping its leaves in autumn while still green--i.e. they don't fade or change color--may have influenced the choice of tree.
Yggdrasil has three great roots that connect with different realms, and each have a corresponding sacred spring. The first root reaches to Niflhel, the Underworld, over which the Goddess Hel presides, and the spring is called Hvergelmir, the source of the primordial rivers. The second root connects with the land of the frost giants, Jotenheim, and the spring that rises there is called Mimir, the Well of Wisdom. The third root finds its way to the heavens, and its spring is that of the Norns. The spring is named Urd after the wisest and eldest sister, and They use it to water Yggdrasil.
The Norns are originally from the land of the Giants. Their names are Urd or Urdi ("Fate", or "That Which Was", the Norn of the Past), Verdandi or Verthandi ("Present" or "That Which is Becoming", from the same verb as Urdi's name) and Skuld ("Shall-be", or "She Who is Becoming"). They represent inexorable Fate--men and gods alike are bound by their pronouncements. It is likely that originally there was only one, Urdi, whose name is cognate with the Anglo-Saxon wyrd, a word which became English "weird", still used as an archaic word for "fate". Later Verdandi and Skuld were added, perhaps through influence of the Greek triple Moerae or Fates.

Eli Indigo's Character Information

Basic Stuffs Character Name: Eli Indigo
Gaia Username :: Raynai
Age :: 17
Physical Description :: Eli's been labeled short by more than one master in his younger years, but has successfully outgrown that title, just reaching five feet and eight inches. His mop of brown curls has been bleached by the sun to resemble wood. Somehow those curls don't invade his eyes, but act more as a frame for his face--a face whose description is approaching angular as food stuffs remain scarce. His hair is an almost tidy mop of curls that barely avoid his vision. His face is plain, sporting no brilliant distinguishable characteristics. However, one eye is dark green while the other is turning dull blue, bits of its original color still speckling through as it most noticeably loses its sight. Eli is well built, with enough muscle to wallop most bums he might run up against, but remains thin. His hands are calloused, and his skin boasts a dark tan.
He wears a threadbare loose cotton shirt with long, baggy sleeves, the cuffs buttoned comfortably. The shirt seems to be a mix of styles, with a large collar folded limply, and a V-cut from the collar eight inches long, intended to be laced up. Of course, the laces remain untied, and the original white of the shirt has turned to a light brown with dirt and wear. The hem of the shirt is straight, and tattered. His trousers are light cotton, torn and frayed until they barely reach past Eli’s knees. An old piece of rope adorns his waist. His feet wear strapped sandals, or remain bare during the spring, summer and fall.
Piercings :: His left ear is pierced first in the lobe, and again near the top, a thin chain running loosely between the the two. The ball at the bottom has a small, plain loop hanging from it.
Tattoomies :: A delicate black vine with broad leaves (compared to the vine itself) grows from behind his left ear and curls for about an inch along his jaw. It was acquired at a young age to mark him as the slave of the -insertnamehere- family.
Personality :: Eli is... quiet. He appears apathetic to others and the world around him. His warm smiles have become rare, and extremely far in between, while his voice lingers on hoarse as Mutt is the only creature he talks to. His eyes like to glue themselves to the ground when listening to someone, and when speaking. He's apt to fidget as well. He's made himself the analytical type, quick to set things to order, and small things seem to bother him such as a loose thread or unsymmetrical decoration.
Before his sister's death, however, Eli was very interested in the arts and was almost always laughing. Small lines around his eyes still remain from those days of joy. He had once been compassionate, carefree, and disorderly. That old self might be hiding somewhere beneath his facade of indifference, but discovering it would be a difficult undertaking, indeed.
Background Information :: His family (consisting of his parents, himself, and his twin sister) escaped from slavery during the more recent years of Sehket's reign. He was around 12 at the time. They lived as peacefully as one could, considering the city's condition, for approximately two years in the Lost District. Eventually the Peace Enforcement was able to find them, with much payment from their previous masters, and executed his parents while they (his parents) were headed to Kensington.
Eli and his sister, Lily being her name, were able to escape the house with the most prized and needed possessions to the Stables, where they moved into an abandoned stall and made it their home. In the following years, the two were able to salvage a great deal of their previous possessions that they could use. They went through the trouble of stashing the unwanted items in the basement, securing it, and burning the rest of the house in hopes they may return someday. However, today the abandoned structure still resembles any other burned structure, with charred boards jutting randomly skyward from the wreckage. The basement appears nonexistent, let alone accessible.
Lily managed to become deathly sick last winter, and unable to find a doctor that might help, Eli held her in his arms as she passed away. After burying Lily in a vacant section of the Boneyard, Eli kept watch over her grave for the remaining portion of winter and a good part of spring in hopes her body would decay without interference from the usual packs of dogs that were so eager for a meal. He still spends a few hours every day sitting next to her cross, 'keeping her company', as he's assured himself.
Since his sister's death, Eli began living a secluded life, separate from the economy and peoples of Wynander. He found food as one might in the wilderness, eating weeds and plants and setting traps in inconspicuous corners. Days began to fade together, and life had lost its meaning as he began to fall into a routine of sitting by Lily's grave, foraging, eating, sleeping and little else.
Until a dog followed him home from the Boneyard. The first thing Eli associated with the mutt was another mouth to feed if he ever thought of adopting him. So he didn't pay any attention. The mutt slept outside his stall every night, tagged at his heels wherever he went, and Eli never spoke to him. When the dog began chasing predators away from the rare prizes caught in his traps' clutches, guilt set in, and Eli began splitting the scarce spoils with Mutt. He set water out for him, and even got used to waking up buried in dog. He's not quite as lonely and listless as before, but having an animal at your heels doesn't change everything.
Occupation :: Previously a slave, he now is an orphan and self-taught herbalist/botanist.
Residence :: His residence be at the southwest corner of the stables, but he's most likely to be found in the Boneyard 'round his sister's grave, or near the edge of the Rosewall Gardens.

Lyra Indigo's Character Information
Stage: Child
 Lyra as a Child .: [ Lyra (Child) ] :. [ Physical Traits ]
Lyra is a strong, sturdy girl with confident eyes. Her golden-blonde hair is similar in color to the Relic that she carries. A mark has appeared on her right leg that resembles the vine tattoo on Eli's face.
[ Personality and Behavior ]
The spirit of Verdandi has assumed the form of a girl with a mild temperament. Shy around strangers, she sometimes tries to distract herself with an activity to avoid interacting with others.
One of Lyra's favorite games is to "play house," pretending to cook or sew. Some of these housekeeping games actually manifest into diligence around Eli's home; Lyra attempts to sweep and organize his belongings. However, as she is still rather young, her efforts are often clumsy and a crude imitation of actual cleaning. Assuming the role of "mother" or matriarch of their little family, she also pretend-scolds Eli when he does something she dislikes.
Sometimes to occupy her time, Lyra will draw in the dirt or, taking a piece of charcoal, scratch a picture on the walls of buildings. The pictures are always elaborate, complex patterns or designs you might expect to see in some sort of expensive tapestry. The meaning of these drawings is elusive, and Lyra is unable to explain them, either. However, the patterns are always beyond mere lines scribbled by a child, and somehow invoke deep emotions in the viewer.
When speaking to Eli, she addresses her master by his full name (Eli Indigo). If she knows the name of other people, she will address them by their full names as well.
[ Relics ]
Lyra is still in possession of the golden thread she received at birth. When she's nervous, she'll often take it from her pocket and wrap the thread around her fingers, clinging to it spindle for comfort. The purpose of the thread is still unknown, though she is quite protective of it.
[ Spell List ] [ * ] Garu - Type: Wind Description: Lyra can summon a small burst of wind using her hands. This wind is only sufficiently strong to knock a book from a shelf or send the hair out of a person's face. She can only use this spell a few times before she feels exhausted and must rest.

Special Events
Wait, an er... infant? Well he certainly HOPED he could care for an infant, no matter how long he needed to. His mistress when he was younger had had a couple young ones that he and his sister had been charged with. So he might be able to manage. Maybe.
Eli ran a hand through his hair as he stammered about, "Eh- Er... right, yes..." It only took him a minute of fishing to pull the card out of his shirt where he'd last tucked it. He glanced over it one last time, in hopes of remembering every detail. He felt that was important, though why he was unsure. With that, he stretched out the card toward Igor, absently biting his lower lip.
"Your cooperation is great appreciated," Igor murmurred in thanks, snatching the card quickly from Eli's fingers and picking up his strange machine again. There was a sort of urgency in his motions that suggested the situation was less relaxed than it seemed during his explanation.
Punching in bottons on the surface of the machine, he began speaking to someone who was not Eli, nor anyone else in the room. "This one took a bit more time to convince, but I think we're set now. ...Mm, yes, we got the verbal agreement. ...Hmm? It'll be good enough." As he spoke, he reached under one of the pillow cushions and drew out a mirror large enough to see one's face in the reflection. "It'll need to be fast, we've already spent quite a bit of time on this client... Ok, give us another minute, then open the gate."
Pushing the machine aside, Igor focused his attention on the mirror and card. Slowly, he pushed the card through the face of the mirror, rippling as it received the card. The next minute, the card had completely disappeared, and the surface of the mirror was as flat as though it had not just swallowed another object.
Darkness spread across the room again, enveloping the people within. It snatched at the few remaining fragments of light before it dominated once more, a thick and blinding presence. Even as the last of the light was extinguished, the music created by Nameless and Belladonna faded into silence.
Slowly, though, other sounds began forming above, small whispers of voices. They seemed to be arguing, and as the argument intensified, the volume and number of voices multiplied. The voices also grew forms, whispy spirits that glowed faintly as they mingled with each other. The mob of spirits seemed not to notice the people below them in the Velvet Room, only one separated itself from the group and flung itself forward. When it had descended upon them, a voice formed from the sounds of echoes and moving water drifted into Eli's mind:
"Do not yearn for the past, do not worry for the future. It is now that we must act, and it is I who will guide you on the proper path."
The voice was suddenly cut off, attracted to an open box Igor kept on his lap. The spirit that had come to them slid into the box, allowing him to slam the lid shut. As he did so, light resumed in the room and the music of Belladonna and Nameless returned.
After moments had passed, Igor nodded his head to Eli and slowly lifted the lid. Inside the box was an infant girl, her hands clutching tightly a spindle of golden thread.

.:: [ . EVENT FOR ELI . ] ::.
Just as she reached for the tear, Lyra's body convulsed. With unusual swiftness, she slipped from Eli's hold, releasing her golden thread as she fell towards the ground. The spindle flew into the sky, spinning several times as the thread unraveled. Strange markings, glowing gold, appeared across Lyra's body, multiplying and growing into a blinding light. She began to stand on her legs as the light reached its full intensity, flashed once, then died down. As Eli's vision returned, the girl who stood before him now was several years older.
