By this, I mean, why have you chosen to defend Nintendo. A company that is always under attack by the casual gamers who think that GTA or Halo is the greatest thing in gaming history.
My reasons: I like challenges, defending Nintendo is a grand challenge.
Nintendo is the oldest company in the business, I feel it is an obligation as a gamer who enjoys classic games to defend the "Father of Video Games."
Nintendo produces games that I, personally, love to play.
Nintendo is a company that isn't afraid to take chances, they aren't afraid to point out their flaws in a game or a system.
I have other reasons, but I shall leaves those reasons for another time.

A lot of the things that are send about Nintendo are not true, and I hate that people say that stuff. I hate that people don't like Nintendo for the wrong reasons.
I've always grown up with Nintendo, also.

I don't like how people see Sony and Microsoft as supreme. I've been playing Nintendo for a long time and it saddens me to see this new generation ignore Nintendo and the great innovation it has. I don't care if people like Sony or Microsoft, but I want them to understand that Nintendo isn't the kiddie system that much of the pop-culture believes it is.

I have my loyalties to Nintendo. It's what I grew up with and so far they've yet to fail me. They make classics, and I continue to play them, wheather it be on the NES or GCN. I am sick of seeing games where the prime goal is kill everything and get the cool weapon. To hell with storyline!
Where's the fun in that?
Games should be thought provoking, challenging, and fun. Games like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid provide this. Yeah, you have to go and kill the bad guy, but it's not completely random, and there are other things you have to do to. There's a reason for your mission.
And dammit, Nintendo's earned it. You can't come in half way though the game claiming your the best. It doesn't work that way.

I grew up on Nintendo, and while I still love to play my Xbox and PS2, Nintendo will always be my choice in gaming because of the quality, and the Nostalgia.
Plus, I like a challenge when talking to people about Nintendo.
Most of my friends are Pro PS2 or Xbox, they like the GC, but they still talk bad about it sometimes.
So I like to straighten them out.

I understand why a lot of people prefer PS2 and X-Box, but I think that Nintendo, being the original synonym to gameplay deserves its loyal fans.

Without Nintendo, there probably wouldn't be as many advancements in the VG industry. And, violent games would be more common than a barrel o Rattata.

To me, its a matter of fact that made me turn to Nintendo (that, and the only systems I played until the current-gen systems were GB/GBC/GBA and other people's N64s).
Sony and Microsoft are nothing in the gaming business. Literally. If they lose third party companies, then they will completely die out because that's the only thing they have going for them. The only companys that can stand on their own two feet without third party companies are Nintendo and Sega, but since third party companies like the PS2 (partially because it came first) and the PS2 finally offered more media, the Dreamcast didn't sell as well so they became third party.
That's why I am happy to know that for the next console wars, THERE WILL BE VICTOR!!
Microsoft is in a panic here. They know that Sony and Nintendo can wipe them off the map (the main thing X-box gets money for now is X-box Live) so they're deciding to try to release X-box 2 a year early. A hasty decision, and a foolish one since it won't be too different from the X-box and the third party companies will not respect someone so foolish, since they should also know it won't sell to well after people see other next-gen systems.
Sony is who you would think would be good, but after both the lawsuit and the PSP becoming a shame to portable gaming (notice I said gaming, not system) third party companies are starting to lose faith. Sony tries harder in its media than its games, simplay because that's their specialty. Third party companies are there for the games though, and with PS3 being mostly media they will not try to support it any farther.
Nintendo has been in the gaming business for years, and is the only company to last so long while still being first party. Third party companies know Nintendo, and since they're abandoning Microsoft (for sure) and Sony (highly likely) they will have nowhere else to go, yet no better. Three of the most famed third party companies have already ensured that they will be moving permanently to the Revolution. Square Enix is obviously moving to Nintendo because they're already working to help the DS and they regret moving to Sony instead of Nintendo in the first place because of everything that's happened to Nintendo because of it. Capcom has always been between Nintendo and Sony, but they simply aren't interested in PS3 making nothing but media features so Nintendo will become a permanent home for the Nintendo Revolution. Sega has been behind Nintendo every since their friendly rivalry was ended by Sony, so Sega will definitely stay where they have made thier home.
That being said, even if I weren't a great fan of Nintendo (and Square Enix, that's the only reason I have a PS2 at all) its still smart to support Nintendo because they will soon become The King of Gaming.

Why am I defending Nintendo? Thats like asking why you defend the one you love. Unlike most people here, I actually grew up with Sega, but I still had a Game Boy in my pocket playing Mario and Kirby. I also played my cousin's Snes if I was ever there with games like Mario World and F-Zero.
But thats in the past, it wasn't til I got my N64 that I felt the magic of Nintendo is its most loved games. I aslo have to thank my friends for also liking Nintendo. So since then I've been an Nintendo fan.
So why I defend them? I didn't grow up on them, but like Sega they make great games. When you play a game that Nintendo have touched you feel their magic when you wrap your hands around the controller. Its that buzz that makees me love Nintendo as developers and also as console makers.
I just want to stop everyone having a closed mind against Nintendo. What people normally say about their games are just...stupid. Like saying most Nintendo games are childish...so every Fire Emblem is childish? Every Metroid is childish? Every Advance Wars is childish? Nintendo is and will always be a family company. Its like Disney being non evil...it'll never happen.
I would love to piut more stuff down, but I'm sure you know what I feel towards Nintendo. Just one more point, Nintendo will be the reason why I am going to try and become part of a games company...hopefully Nintendo itself xp

Because in a way, those can be seen as childish by their design (Well Advance Wars) USe stuff like Eternal Darkness or Geist. Those show easily that NIntendo is not chidlish. I can't wait till Geist is released, then I can easily prove them peoples wrong.

Sure the design of AW seems childish, but its about war where lives are lost, same goes to FE, you lose a character, and they are told to be dead (well not really...well...Im not sure as Ive only had 2 that have "died" and they came back on my side later in the story xp ). And we all know what Metroid is like huh? This might sound strange tho' but I do use Nintendo's main M rated game outside of the Defenders forum, just in here you guy understand me and understand what Im on about xp
