I wrote the anti-Sasuke fanfic! I tried to be serious, so it's not as sadistic as you might expect... Anyway read and tell me what do you think? And tell me if I should write something else - less serious this time?
Disclaimer: "Naruto" belongs to Kishimoto Masashi. Chiyou belongs to Ssj1_Goku and Ryaku belongs to Juu.
A Wasted Life
Uchiha Sasuke didn’t know when he started to realize his life sucked. It wasn’t at the Chuunin exams – the one organized after Sunagakure’s and Otogakure’s attack, when Naruto beat him. They both became Chuunin after all. It was not when Naruto, Neji, Shikamaru and Rock Lee became Jounin before he did.
He did start feeling slightly insecure when Hinata, Kiba, Tenten and Shino were accepted as Anbu with him, especially since he found out that Naruto was already an Anbu captain. But it still didn’t make him think, it was he who was failing. No, the genius Sasuke could not fail. It was the Hokage who was siding…
Maybe it was on the day he learned Sakura and Ino were no longer his fans? He remembered clearly seeing the blonde girl talking with Chouji and kissing with him a few moments later. That made him feel offended – how could he be changed for some fat idiot? It never occurred to him that the “fat idiot” actually cared for the girl and that was what counted.
One the same day Sakura came to visit him. He felt slightly better when he saw the familiar green eyes and the pretty face, but her expression – oddly nervous made him uneasy. His ex-teammate stopped visiting him sometime ago. She would say hello when they met and smile, but she didn’t even bother to remind him how she loved him. He was quite sure, she wanted to apologize for that, but something told him he was mistaken.
“Sasuke-kun? I-I’m really sorry, but I don’t love you anymore,” the girl bluttered out after a few seconds. She continued, as if afraid he would hurt her, if she’d let him say a word. “You were always so distant… I really wanted to keep my promise and love you forever, but I couldn’t since you never let me… And Lee-san was so nice to me, so… Well, I came to tell you I won’t annoy you anymore!”
Then she turned around and run off, leaving him to wonder how this could have happened. He didn’t understand how somebody like Rock Lee – ugly and only good in taijutsu could have stolen his – Uchiha Sasuke’s biggest fan.
But actually, he owed the biggest realization to two girls, who he overheard talking in a café. Truth to tell he didn’t remember them, as they were two years younger than he was and he only saw them from far away, but they made him realize how badly he wasted his life.
It was one of those days, when the sky is covered with steely gray clouds and it appears it will start raining any moment, but it doesn’t. The young Uchiha didn’t have any missions on that day, so he decided to check out the new café near his house. Oddly enough he took a strange liking into sweets lately.
The café was quite elegant – with pale brown furniture made from oak wood and light yellow walls with a flowery pattern. A part of the counter was used as a display for various cakes and biscuits and behind it stood two young woman clad in neat maid outfits.
Sasuke humpfed his order and sat down in a table in the corner. He really didn’t intend to eavesdrop, but the two girls at the other table either didn’t notice him or wanted him very badly to hear their conversation.
“Ah… Don’t you think Uzumaki-san and Hyuuga-san make a very cute pair Ryaku?” the blue-haired one chuckled – her voice was to low to make it a giggle. Her casual clothes made a sharp contrast with her companion’s, who wore mainly mesh and fishnet. They were both short, but “Ryaku” obviously won in that department.
“Oh, yeah. You know, people said she had a crush on him in the Academy.”
“Love prevails!” cheered the taller one. “Anyway, the girl proved to have a much better taste than a bunch of her colleagues…”
“You know Chiyo,” Ryaku said adjusting her long brown hair – it was tied in a low pony tail. “I agree with you. Uchiha was a complete disappointment to the whole village. Mom repeats it every day.”
Chiyo’s red eyes lingered for a moment on some point behind her companions back and they held quite visible malice.
“Well, duh!” she snorted. “He was so convinced he’s a genius he stopped bothering altogether!”
“And how he treated the girls that liked him!”
“Like trash… Like trash. No wonder they all found someone better… I really wonder how they could stand him for so long!” hissed Chiyo.
“They only saw his body and didn’t notice the rest. Hormones, my dear.” Ryaku didn’t really seem fazed.
“Never underestimate hormones?” the other girl giggled. “That’s what my aunt – the cool one – keeps repeating.”
“You know, that biscuits are very tasty but I’d have prefered some dumplings…”
“You and your dumplings, Ryaku… Now sushi…”
“Su-… A cat! Aww… It’s so adorable!”
This little conversation made Sasuke think… for a while a little pang of guilt bubbled in his hardened heart but he made it disappear. He was /perfect/ and those girls were jealous... But a small part started doubting - it was far too little to make him improve, but enough to weaken him more.
***
A week later Uchiha Itachi and his companion Kisame had been spotted near Konohagakure. The Fifth Hokage assigned a small team of elite ninja to catch them. Sasuke was not on that team – it were Naruto, Neji, Lee and Hinata.
The black-haired youth did not take it well – he run off to find his brother on his own. Unfortunately – for himself – he found Itachi before the hunter-nins did. The fight did not take long. Sasuke’s brother didn’t even bother to fight the youth. It was Kisame who finished him off in one swift slash.
“Ahh… Foolish little brother… I told you to meet me when you’re eyes are like mine,” said Itachi looking at the corpse. “But you never understood it. You relayed on your blood too much… Foolish little brother…”
