Hey thoese of you who think you are punks YOU ARENT PUNK DIED IN THE LATE 70's AFTER VIETNAM due to the confusion of the political people opinions of Nam the youth took it into thier own hands to decide on a new political way Anarchy. Do you know what anarchy is? your going to say chaos huh? WRONG well actually its about 1/4 of it here Anarchy is a form of government by the people for the people and by chaos. Anarchists belive that there is no reason in fighting so if you are a so called punk you dont fight, they belive that fighting is cased by the differences of man looks/intelligence/strength etc.. so man fights to see who is the victor or predicessor if you will, and so that is why people fight so you are not the cause you are the other guy. They guy who gets pciked on because of his belif in Amarchy you obvisly fight back due to the human instinct ((looks/intelligence/strength etc.. so man fights to see who is the victor or predicessor)) and there...... damn Avril......

There are kids that have Anarchy symbols all over their binders and Anarchy patches on their backpacks at school.

They obviously don't know what the hell Anarchy is.

You're treading on thin ice there.

You can't compare a fad (by today's gen defn) to pratically a religious denomination unless you want to expand on it.

The Sid Vicious

Anarchy is a form of government by the people for the people and by chaos

Anarchy is the ABSENCE of government NOT a form of government mixed in with chaos.

Quote:

so man fights to see who is the victor or predicessor if you will, and so that is why people fight so you are not the cause you are the other guy.

"Predecessor" : 1 : one that precedes; especially : a person who has previously occupied a position or office to which another has succeeded
2 archaic : ANCESTOR

Now that the definition is clear, why would you want to fight to see who's the predecessor?

I suggest phrasing your argument a little better -- you're trying to connect Anarchy with punks and with Avril. I'm assuming you're trying to use anarchy as the history of punks, which are now evolved into something that annoys you because of figures of mass media (ex: Avril Lavigne.)

And here I thought "punk" only meant the smaller male in a gay relationship. wink

Anarchy hasn't much to do with being a punk as far as I remember. Anarchy is the belief in no government (which is essentially chaos, but everyone just associated it with chaos itself), and not a form of government in itself (though that is a joke, that it's a form of government against government, even though it truly can't be... oxymorons and all that).

Avril is just your average whore, pimped by the record companies and all like just like every other teeny-bopping artists (britney, christina, etc). She just happens to wear different clothes because she's a skinny twit with no body.

Today's definition of punk is a paradox in itself since kids are only 'punk' these days because of Hot Topic and only Hot Topic, wherein being a punk is defined as being a non-conformist and a wanted outcast of society with some taste in underground and unknown music (being punk music, which typically just becomes mainstream nevertheless). Yet, being a punk in itself is mainstream, which defeats the entire purpose of it's meaning.

Yes, kids who say they're punk are stupid, but it's a style not a mindset. No matter how you look at it, every single type of person subscribes to some sort of style and many out there resort to being hot topic whores who's parents actually _have_ money to pay for all that crap in the first place. There are also those who call themselves goth, despite knowing nothing of the original meaning of 'goth' and how horrid those sorts were in the medieval ages, but hey, it's just a style and a different taste in music.

You know I have a funny story about those stupid anarchy patches and that "punk/goth" store Hot Topic....and you all should know Hot Topic is own by that huge prep store...I think tis called Ambercrombie and Fitch I think? Anyways

So yeah, Im walking past Hot Topic with a couple of friend after a very nice afternoon at the book store and this kids comes out of Hot Topic and waves around and anarchy patch and is like..."NO GOVERNMENT! YEAH!"...and Im just....hey kid, did you buy that in Hot Topic? He nods...Yeah, well you had tax on it right? He nods again...The taxes go to the government, just to let you know......and I walk away laughing my a** off, mentally of course, but my friends laughing rather loudly....hehehe....
PostPosted: Mon Sep 13, 2004 8:33 pm

Actually, Hot Topic is a completely independant company that has done quite well for itself in these past years. Stock skyrocketed and all that, but I'll spare the boring details of the finer points. Either way, this latest generation of kids are suckers for this crap because they're suddenly not learning things at a younger age (at least from what I've seen).

Would've been funnier if you had said it went to the government who paid for the school who is teaching him to read or something like that xp

It is all about the music.

Avril never said she invented Punk, anyway. I was certian she didn't really care to be called punk either. Why does everyone have to get all pissed off at one singer/band/whatever. If you don't like her, then you're not obligated to buy her CD. Just ignore. Hell... she's doing well. Good for her.

And s**t... I thought you were going to talk about teh sceen. Pleh. Just say you're going to spout off bullshit about anarchy, ok. Punk started out as a sort of anti-music to the popular music of the day. It used to be just noise and screaming. More out of the sentement shared by youth in the UK.

*applauds Liu*
My mother was actually a "Punk", it wasn't a trend then, it was a lifestyle. She didn't participate in all that hot topic crap, in fact, she usually MADE her own damn outfits. She was told she was "punk" because of what she listened to, what color she dyed her hair, and what she wore, but hey, it's what she liked.

But you know what I dislike? The whole "Anarchy Rules!" thing, one, it cracks me up for teh simple fact that Anarchy DOESN'T rule, it's the absence of all forms of government and two, I'm tired of all these bloody skate boarders carrying around those bloody patches and thinking they're the best thing since well, chocolate, which simply is not true.

Non-conformists hate other non-conformists for not conforming to their standards of non-conformity.

High class punks and low class punks. True punks and Emo punks. Labels that mean nothing to me. I had the epiphany, who cares. I certainly don't care....anymore. The punk culture is changing, so let it change, for those punk purists that feel they need to preserve culture. It already contradicted itself with 'Emo sucks' thus perpetuating the cycle of oppression. The punks was punk'd by the popular society, thus being oppressed and made it's own culture. Soon anough it will happen again with Punks VS Emo, blaming Emo music for the supposed death of punk. How is a culture ever dead? It never is, it is just changing.

Hot Topic, as mainstream as it is, is just a freaking store. Don't try to rise it higher then it already is. It has good products, and I am not buying stuff there cause it is 'in' it just looks good. Of course I don't buy an anarchy patch, cause....I just don't like it. I like Famil Guy, it's funny, and they have shirts there. It's conviently near me and if I had the money I'd buy it. Does not make me I am advocating anything, it is my personal preference.

A personal experience is when I was at a club. I was supporting a band I liked. After they played some person went up to me and my friend. He asked, "Do you shop at Hot Topics?" An attitude in his voice.
My friend answered, "No?" With an awkard look.
The person, "I think you do." with a snotty attitude as he walked away.

Tell me, what was up with that. We were just there to have a good time. I don't know if he was punk, but why would he be their if otherwise. No other band was playing was not classified as punk. That urked me for a second, but I took it as a learning experience. Thus the quote I found, "Non-conformists hate other non-conformists for not conforming to their standards of non-conforming."

A ridculouse wheel of non-conforming. Punks and Pop society are both idiots, and those labels should be abolished by teaching youth in school. Cause school does not teach anything useful anyways.

I definatly do not sell myself short and call myself punk. I call me...just me, that happen to like the music and adapts 1% of their style. STOP relying on society to choose what you like or dislike!!! gonk
